Chris Justin Mamorno Grade 8 - Diputado T.L.E. 8: 2. Input and Output Devices

The document discusses various computer hardware components. It describes the functions of the CPU, RAM, hard disk, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and printer. It defines input and output devices, with keyboards, mice, microphones, and webcams as examples of input devices, and monitors, projectors, and speakers as examples of output devices. It also distinguishes between softcopy and hardcopy, noting that a hard copy is a physical document while a softcopy is a digital version. Finally, it outlines two types of storage devices: primary storage like RAM and secondary storage such as a hard drive.

1. THE DIFFERENT HARDWARES OF A COMPUTER SYSTEM

The hardware of the computer system includes monitor, CPU, keyboard, mouse,
printer, sound system, RAM, hard disk and many more.

 RAM
RAM (Random Access Memory) is a type of computer hardware that is used to store
the information and then process that information.
 Hard disk
The hard disk is another type of computer hardware that is used to store the data in it.

 Monitor
For the computer hardware, the hardware is another device that is used to display the
output, videos and other graphics as it is directly connected to the CPU.

 CPU
CPU (Central processing unit) is the core hardware part of the computer system which
is used to interpret and execute most of the commands using other computer parts i.e.
software and hardware.

 Mouse
It is a hand operator input device that is used to point something on the screen.

 Keyboard
The keyboard is another type of computer hardware that is used to give input text,
commands to the computer.

 Printer
The printer is a type of hardware that is used to print something which is seen on the
computer and then transfer that displayed information to paper.

2. INPUT AND OUTPUT DEVICES

An input device sends information to a computer system for processing, and an output
device reproduces or displays the results of that processing. Input devices only allow
for input of data to a computer and output devices only receive the output of data from
another device.
Examples of input devices includes keyboard, mouse, microphone and webcam.
Examples of output devices includes monitor, projector and speaker.
3.DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SOFTCOPY AND HARDCOPY
A hard copy is physical, such as a tax form, printed document, or textbook, while soft copy is
a digital version of these media that is kept on a storage device.

4. STORAGE DEVICE
A storage device is any hardware capable of holding information either temporarily or
permanently. There are two types of storage devices used with computers: a primary storage
device, such as RAM, and a secondary storage device, such as a hard drive.
