Module 1:
COURSE ORIENTATION
MODULE OBJECTIVE:
By the end of this Module, you will be able to describe what this course is about
and how it will help you manage the teaching-learning process in the modalities.
MODULE CONTENT:
ACTIVITY 1
Read the LDM Course Overview. Reflect on the overview by answering the following questions.
Write down your insights:
Answer: Learning Delivery Modalities Course 2 is a form of capacity building for teachers. It
was initiated after the DepEd adopted the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP),
which was endorsed by the Covid-19 IATF, NEAP, and other education agencies. It is a task-
oriented course that provides self-directed modules that do not require extensive dialogue
to help teachers better understand the various modalities for the SY 2020-2021. This course is
also output-oriented since teachers are required to have outputs and focus on each module's
activity. The guided independent study through self-learning modules would be the primary
mode of delivery for these LDM courses, which will be available in both electronic
(offline/online) and printed formats.
2. How can this course help ensure that you will be able to deliver quality instruction in the
“new normal”?
Answer: Given our country's current condition as a result of the pandemic, and our
educational system's efforts to include alternate ways for learners to receive quality
education, this course would challenge us to become more informed and skilled in terms of
implementing the most appropriate learning delivery modality in our respective fields. This
would also motivate us to have a greater understanding of our students' interests and the most
appropriate approaches to assist them with their education while keeping their health and
well-being in mind.
3. What are the two support mechanisms that will help you with your learning in this
course?
Answer:
1. Before this, I attended several webinars/trainings connected to this course, and all the
learnings I acquired from those can help me accomplish LDM 2.
2. The LAC sessions facilitators' experience, along with our teaching and non-teaching
force's teamwork in providing perspectives, enlightenment, and encouragement to one
another, will undoubtedly aid me in learning each module in this course.
ACTIVITY 2
Answer the following questions by copying and filling out the table.
Answer:
I am a type of person who is always eager and willing to learn. This attitude will help me
accomplish the activities included in this course. I will take each task as a challenge to make
myself better both personally and professionally. Furthermore, I am confident that through
LDM 2 my current teaching skills and knowledge can improve which will eventually benefit
my students and the school.
2. How can I ensure that I am able to sustain my strengths and address the obstacles that
will hinder me from completing this course?
Answer:
To begin, I must persuade and condition myself that this course would be extremely
helpful to me, my colleagues, and my students. Having an open mind that I will obtain a lot
of wisdom that will help me overcome all my doubts and concerns about this new normal
setup, and that I am not alone in this endeavor. Moreover, I believe that by maintaining an
optimistic attitude and a desire to learn, I will be able to conquer any difficulties I will
encounter while completing this course. Also, with the assistance of my colleagues and
superiors, I am sure that I will be able to complete this course.

ACTIVITY 3
Look for a colleague with whom you would like to discuss your answers and reflections with
to the questions in Activities 1 and 2.
Answer:
Mrs. Honeycheer Cabuga and I had a brief conversation about how we responded
to the questions in Activities 1 and 2. We discovered something new about each other, and
we learned from our insights. Through this discussion, we gained more courage and motivation
to continue and finish this course until the last module.
ACTIVITY 1
Begin by refreshing your memory on the Learning Action Cell. Read DepEd Order No. 35 s.
2016 titled “The Learning Action Cell as the K to 12 Basic Education Program School Based
Continuing Professional Development Strategy for the Improvement of Teaching and Learning.”
Once you’re done, answer the following questions. Write your responses and any other ideas and
reflections in your Study Notebook.
1. Reflect on the objectives for conducting LAC sessions as listed in DO 35, s. 2016.
Rank the following objectives from easiest to the most difficult to achieve:
Answer:
__2__ To improve the teaching-learning process to improve learning among students
__4__ To nurture successful teachers
__1__ To enable teachers to support each other to continuously improve their content and
pedagogical knowledge, practice, skills, and attitudes
__3__ To foster a professional collaborative spirit among School Heads, teachers, and the
community as a whole
2. What are the top three challenges to having a successful LAC? List down and elaborate.
Answer:
1. Relevance of the Topics – To make sure that teachers are gaining knowledge and
skills that are useful to the current situation or in the future, the topics in the LAC
sessions should be relevant, timely, and beneficial to all parties concerned
especially in these trying times. And honestly, sometimes the expected and
targeted outcomes from the talks are not even met.
According to DO 35, s. 2016, a LAC should have no less than 2 but not more than 15 members
each. Get in touch with your designated Coach or LAC Leader in forming your LACs. See LDM
Module 1 – page 5
1. Agree on a date and time to meet and discuss forming your LACs. Follow LAC Session
1 Guide for the conduct of your LAC.
2. During this meeting, decide on your groupings and designate one LAC Facilitator and one
LAC Leader per LAC.
• LACs should be composed of teachers. Discuss your preferred LAC composition with
your assigned Instructional Coach (this will be a district or division supervisor assigned
to your LAC).
• After forming your respective LACs, there should a LAC Leader assigned to you from
among the following school members: » Master Teacher » Head Teacher/Department
Head » Other senior teachers who have proven competence, potential to lead, or
subject expertise to lead the LAC.
• Teacher LACs can connect with their Instructional Coach through the LAC Leader. This
Instructional Coach will also be handling multiple LACs through a network of LAC
Leaders.
ACTIVITY 3
List down the members of your LAC and their respective roles in your Study Notebook. This
form should be accomplished by the LAC Facilitator and its members at the first LAC session.
Answer:
