Solving problems

Problems which may happen when researching How I plan to resolve the issue :
and planning :

I send out my surveys but end up getting the I need to make sure when I send out a survey I add
results wrong as my target audience weren’t the in a question about age to ensure my audience are
ones answering taking it.

I can’t produce a focus group because of I need to plan ahead and think of creative ideas,
COVID19 like a zoom call which I record.

I am unable to do my original idea as I am not able I need to have a main idea and a back up idea as no
to travel one is too sure about lockdowns in the future
months.
I am unable to use a microphone because of I need to ensure I use my phones microphone and
COVID19 match it to the video to collect the best audio
possible.
I may have to film outside I should plan ahead and think about an array of
areas to film, therefore always have a back up plan.
If I need to film outside I need to make sure I select
a quiet area with little road noise.
Research may be wrong or not enough required To make sure this doesn’t happen I need to double
check with my teachers if I’m unsure of anything,
as well as reading and completing the feedback
given.
I have to be more COVID19 friendly therefore I need to ensure I follow my filming schedule
filming takes a longer period of time religiously to make sure I fit in every section of
filming with the restrictions.
I could have not collected enough research to form This has been a regular problem for me so I need to
a script learn from my mistakes and take the research
seriously.
I may be unable to borrow a ring light I need to make sure that if this happens I film in the
middle of the day when it is nice and light. To
ensure I get the best possible footage I need to be
extremally careful about my camera settings etc.
Mid project check up

Target audience giving a difference opinion to Occasionally the opinions which I had, I put into a
mine survey so my target audience could decide upon it
as well. Although sometimes the survey results
were not as expected which meant I had to make
slight changes in my project to fit the needs of my
audience. This meant that I had to change and
adjust a few things which meant more time than
expected was needed, luckily I was aware this
could happen so was able to work around it.

Test shoots weren’t filmed with the right exposure, When completing test shoots for my interviews the
settings etc footage looked good from the camera, although
when this was put into premiere pro it was rather
orange toned. This meant I had to make room for a
re-shoot.
People weren’t available to film focus group When I originally tried to film my focus group, the
people who I asked weren’t all able to do the date
set. As we were in lockdown it was hard because
everyone had different timetables, this meant I had
to delay the process until I got back to college
where everyone would be in the same room and
have similar days.
Falling behind with work Occasionally I would fall behind with work which
meant I had to work in weekends or holidays to get
to where I needed to be for the next lesson.
Not enough people answering the survey Although I was getting responses back from my
surveys, they were in very minimal numbers.
Therefore, I needed to make a change in the way I
presented my surveys. So instead of asking my
audience to write a long winded response, I
changed the answers to ‘yes’ or ‘no’ which made it
more appealing to answer.
Too much writing included in pitch PowerPoint When I first produced my PowerPoint for my pitch,
I imagined reading off it as a way of presenting.
Because of this, I had filled my PowerPoint with a
large combination of facts and figures but later had
to go back and restart this process. This is due to
realising that it would be more effective to include
pictures and then go on and explain what they
mean and stand for.
End project review

One of my interviewees didn’t want to be filmed I had always planned to interview a foster parent,
although last minute they decided they didn’t want
to be on film. This meant that I had to come up
with an alternative and produce new questions to
ask.
Not enough B-roll When editing I realised that my B-roll was all very
similar and there wasn’t enough of it. This meant
that throughout the editing process I continuously
needed to go back and film new footage.
Lighting was slightly off When editing my interviews I realised that the
lighting changes slightly in each one, as well as it
being orange toned. This meant that while editing I
needed to use a colour balancer to balance each
video out.
USB corrupted After nearly completing the first edit of my
production, my USB corrupted which meant I had
lost my edit as well as a large combination of
documents. This meant that I had to work more
than usual to get back to where I was previously.
Re-shoot After looking back at my footage I realised that
there were some improvements to be made as
while presenting the frame was slightly off. I
therefore decided to reshoot and correct this while
there was time to do so.
