Course Rationale:
In this course, one would understand Family Business and the related issues in management, ownership,
family, personal and career. The key aim is to develop skills to address the above issues and challenges.

Course Objectives:
The course objective is to

1. Understand family business


2. Look at various aspects of professionalization in family business
3. Sensitize the students in building lasting family business through synergy in vision, values and strategy
4. Provide inputs on corporate and family governance

Learning Outcomes:
The student is expected to gain the conceptual and applied knowledge in the following areas:
1. Explore the management, ownership, family, career and personal issues found in family companies
2. What one needs to professionalize and overcome various challenges and hurdles
3. The importance of family values, development of a strategy for the family’s involvement in business and
craft a plan to succeed in their business
4. Policies and processes of developing practice of governance both at the controlling family and business
levels
