PASSIVE VOICE
There are two types of voice in English that expresses the relationship of the subject to the
action.
1) Active voice
In active voice, the subject does something ( subjeknya melakukan pekerjaan ).
2) Passive voice
In passive voice, the subject in active voice becomes the object of the passive voice
( subjeknya dikenai pekerjaan ). The things we need in passive voice are to be and
past participle ( verb bentuk ke-3 ).
The formula : Subject + to be + V-3 + by + object
To be is divided into two types : - present ( is, am, are ) - past ( was, were )
V-3 is divided into two types :
a) Regular verb ( -ed ending ). Ex : played, learned, watched
b) Irregular verb. Ex : seen, bought, put
Passive voice : Cheese was eaten by them the frorm : subject + to be + V-3 +
Passive voice : Cheese is being eaten by them the frorm : subject + to be + V-3 +
Passive voice : Cheese was being eaten by them the frorm : subject + to be + V-3
Passive voice : Cheese will be eaten by them the frorm : subject + to be + V-3 +
preposition (by) + object
Ex : Mice will be eating cheese
Passive voice : Cheese will be being eaten by them the frorm : subject + to be + V-
Passive voice : Cheese would be eaten by them the frorm : subject + to be + V-3 +
Passive voice : Cheese has been eaten by them the frorm : subject + to be + V-3 +
