CASE # 2

RUDY AND FRANKIE: Two Different Worlds

Summary:

During their elementary and high school days, Rudy Paragas and Frankie
Taguinod were classmates. It is a fact that Frankie got better grades than Rudy. In
college, Frankie took up an accounting course at the University of Santo Tomas
whence he graduated with flying colors and became a Certified Public Accountant
like his Father. With his chosen profession, he became a millionaire. On the other
hand, Rudy did not find college days enjoyable. He dropped out from his business
management course at University of the East and thread the world of business
instead. He pursued trading of palay and became so successful which led him from
diversifying with other businesses. With that, He became a billionaire.

Frankie was able to find out the raging success that Rudy has. He could not
even decipher how a college dropped out like Rudy be more financially successful
than a college graduate like him.

Question: What would you tell Frankie if he shares his thoughts with you?

Answer:

I will let Frankie realize that the root of “SUCCESS” is not only the product of a
person’s intellectual ability or by mere intelligence. It welcomes anyone even if he
or she is not “wise” enough to answer a long mathematical problem or even
compose a 1000-word editorial article Hence, it is also seen with how he or she
drives his or her own life; how he or she make smart decisions which lead to fruitful
outcomes. . Mr Bill Gates, the second richest man in the world, with a net worth of
$67 billion (according to Forbes), the owner of Microsoft, the not-so-wise student in
his age, proved that out.

I will show him the possibilities why Rudy is more financially successful than
him, these are; Rudy may not be a man with booming wit but a smart man instead;
he may be a man who knows how to maximize his full knowledge for a brilliant
result. It doesn’t mean that if Rudy is a dropped out, he can’t do nothing with his
life. Maybe Rudy have that “something” which cause him to be where he is right
now. And that something is that “unique” difference that he has compared to
Frankie.

Reflection:

Us, being not intellectually magnificent doesn’t mean that we are not good
enough. Indeed, we are. In our life, we can’t excel in all fields. We may be good in
Math but poor in English; we may know how to dance but singing is out of our list;
we may be an excellent writer but is not good in public speaking; we maybe a Cum

laude but a stupid creature when it comes to love; we maybe a failure with our
chosen profession but a success to another field. Who knows, we might be the next
Bill Gates or Mr. Rudy Paragas. Indeed, our intellectual ability doesn’t justify it all.
Our uniqueness does. We may not be good enough with something, but still have
that “exclusive” capability which can lead us to the raging fire of success. We just
need to find that out.
