Low-flow cut off 7. Operating conditions

The low-flow cut-off can be set in 1% steps via the software
to values from 0 ... 20 % of the limit value of the measuring Installation conditions
range. If the measured value falls to below the set value then
the analog output is set to 0 or 4 mA and no pulses are issued Installation instructions
at the pulse output. The value in the display is set to zero. Wherever possible, the transducer should be installed
upstream of any turbulence-inducing parts such as valves,
6. Characteristic values elbows, T-pieces or similar.
The converter must be installed as indicated below.
Reference conditions
• Flow profile hidden
• Inlet run as per installation length
• Regulating valves always in outlet run
• Measurement should be performed in the absence of
gas content

Position • Close a shut-off valve downstream of the transducer.

• The converter is operated in accordance with the "Zero
point calibration" function as described in the
"PROCESS MEASURED VALUES" function class.
• The low-flow cut off must be deactivated
• Remember to observe the warm-up time for the
electronic components.
Any flow through the transducer during the setting of the zero
point will result in an incorrect zero point alignment and
consequently lead to measuring errors.
To eliminate any errors that may occur when setting the zero
point, resolve all possible malfunctions and set the zero point
again.
Standard fitting
The zero point is set in accordance with the specifications
provided in the description of the human interface.
Mounting the converter
The converter can be supplied as a compact version which is
mounted on the transducer or as a version for separate
installation (on wall or pipework). To make the display easier
to read, the converter can be rotated through 90° steps when
mounted, to be facing at +180° or -90°. The display unit itself
can also be rotated through 90° steps within the casing, when
mounted, to face +180° or -90°.

Zero point setting Contact conditions
The zero point of the measuring equipment must be set the No special contact conditions need to be observed. However

Gas content
No gas content is permitted when mass meters are used in
operating conditions for which calibration is mandatory.
In applications for which calibration is not mandatory, any
gas content in the liquid impairs the accuracy of the
measurement.
For the measurement of a liquid which has a gas content to
Support using wall supports work at all, there must be a uniform distribution of
very small gas bubbles through the liquid.
Larger gas bubbles immediately provoke serious
measurement errors and may even shift the zero point.
The size of the measurement error that occurs is therefore
dependent on the actual process conditions.
A general rule of thumb is: 1% gas content increases the
specified measurement error by 1%. The gas content may not
exceed 5%.

resistance grater than 250 Ohm. Pressing the ESC key takes you straight to the MEASURED
VALUES function class.

Software structure
The software functions of the UMC.2 are subdivided into
function classes. These function classes have a cyclical
structure.
