2. Historical Recount
Definition:
It is concerned with the history of a place or
an object.
Funcion:
• To describe past historical experiences by
retelling chronological events by involving
the important dates, characters as well as
the place of the event.
Characteristics:
• Retelling the past historical event
• Upholding the history of a place or an
object
• Written scientifically or imaginatively
• Purposing to entertainingor informing
Generic Structures:
• Orientation (Introduction), include the
opening paragraph introducing the
participant, seting of time as well as
setting of place.
• Event. It is part of the event experienced
by the characters.
• Re-orientation (Closing). It consists of the
conclusion or the comment or sum up of
evaluation made by the writer.
Language Features:
• The participats of historical text must be
specific.
• The use of correct pronouns referring to
the participants of the text.
• It deals with the use of material
processes of action verb.
• Uses some adverb phrased
• Uses the past tense
• It also requires the use of adjectives.
• The use of evaluate words
• The use of time connections
3. Fable
Definition:
A fable is a story featuring animals, plants or
forces of nature which are
anthropomorphized (given human qualities).
A fable always ends with a moral value
which was intended as the lesson.
Funcions:
• To entertain or to amuse the readers
about the interesting story
• To convey moral messages or lessons to
the readers, especially for children
Characteristics:
• Using animals or elements of nature
(non-human characters) as the main
characters;
• Containing moral or lesson which can be
found in the end of a story;
• Containing a funny and amusing story.
Generic Structures:
• Orientation. It tells about text talks in
general, who involves in the text, when
and where it happens.
• Complication. It explores the conflict
among the participants.
• Resolution. This phase tells how the
participants solve the problems aroused
by the conflict.
Language Features:
• Using animals given human qualities
• Simple plot and characters
• Using normal values
• Using past tense

Definition:
A story or narrative that lies somewhere
between myth and historical fact and which,
as a rule, is about a particular figure or
peson.
Funcions:
• To entertain or to amuse the readers
about the interesting story
• To give moral value
Characteristics:
• Using animals or elements of nature
(non-human characters) as the main
characters;
• Containing a moral or lesson which can
be found in the end of the story;
• Containing a funny and amusing story
