Activity

1. Students will be introduced to manipulating and

changing language to derive new meaning. This is
highlighted through examples of removing words or
using different words in preset sentences.
2. After being introduced to this concept, students will be
shown how to create a found poem, with a teacher
doing a live example using a Frankenstein passage.
3. Provide the link listed below, which is an image of a
passage from an eBook of Frankenstein, to the class.
(This eBook allows you to manipulate it and copy it as
you please, so providing an image is okay.)
4. Students will go to photoeditor.com on their devices,
or an appropriate mobile app for their device.
5. There at the website or app, they will open the image
by dragging it onto the website (photoeditor.com) or
by importing the file in any of the apps.
6. Students will create a found poem by blacking out
parts of the passage with the drawing tools in order to
create or reconstruct meaning of the passage.
7. Once they are done, they may save their work to a
new image and share it with the rest of the class if
they wish.
