Final Student Teaching Self Reflection

My first student teaching experience has been one of the most amazing, influential and

heartwarming experience’s in all of my fieldwork placements. I had two inspiring cooperating

teachers, that made me realize how much I really enjoy teaching and how passionate I am about

it. As I had received support from my cooperating teachers, I had felt that this was my time to

put all I’ve learned and worked hard for into action. I was placed in 5th grade, and was fortunate

enough to have two classes in which I was able to teach language arts and science to. I was also

placed in 1st grade for my second placement in which I was able to teach all subject areas such as

Math, Science, Social Studies and ELA.

Being able to interact with so many different students, and individually getting to know

them was an experience I could never forget. My cooperating teachers, were mentors that really

cared about my progression as a teacher, and they allowed me to express my teaching, strategies

and professionalism within their classrooms. As for my professional philosophy, I felt as though

I was in my own classroom most of the time. It was truly an amazing experience, and I learned

so much from it. I built a bond with all the students I was fortunate enough to teach during this

experience, and got to know the students all individually. I realized that as time passed, and as I

built relationships with the students, my classroom management skills improved as they had

respect for me, and I was able to continuously keep them engaged during lessons.

Throughout this semester, I was always planning for the week, and next week

continuously. I was lucky enough to see how my cooperating teacher planned her curriculum for
the year. The process of implementing lessons, and preparing for them went all as planned and I

am proud of all the lessons I taught. For future teaching, I have come to realize that although we

plan in advance, things can always change. In preparing for student teaching, I was nervous but

excited to be an active role in the classroom, in which I was always teaching! After a few days, I

was comfortable and confident enough to just jump in and take in the experience and opportunity

I was given in these classrooms. During this experience, I had nothing but positive experiences

and I am thankful I am able to grow, reflect and improve from them.
