Generic responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The
responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work and Professional
Development Plan.
Specific responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context,
phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be
revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.
Work in collaboration with the Protection Team Leader and Project Manager to
undertake protection monitoring activities (including observations, consultations,
interviews with key informants and focus group discussions (FGDs)).
Build and maintain trust relationships with target communities.
Coordinate the team of protection monitoring technical assistants and provide guidance while
conducting community-level protection needs assessments and protection monitoring activities
to identify and document critical and emerging threats to safety, dignity and well-being of
women, men, girls and boys, as well as protective factors and community resources.
Contribute to the identification and internal referral of individuals/households with specific
needs and/or vulnerabilities, with special focus on children, youth, women and other at-risk
groups
Support and train team members on identification and assessment of vulnerable individuals.
Ensure that all cases are recorded to the database in timely manner and that all follow up actions
are reflected.
Liaise with information management team and ensure keeping accurate management of data
records and databases/trackers.
Coordinate assessments on service delivery related to case management.
Support development and help organize trainings to beneficiary community members/groups
and prepare training materials and training reports.
Support the development of gender and age-sensitive awareness materials on key protection
related issues.
Ensure that all data and information pertaining to protection monitoring are handled in strict
confidence, and in line with applicable data protection and information sharing protocols.
Maintain computerised and manual records, in line with internal procedures, regulatory
requirements and confidentiality requirements.
Compile information collected by team members and prepare periodic protection reports, and
attend meetings as required.
When assessments, studies, researches are carried out in the field locations, coordinate and
manage the Protection team to carry out relevant activities.
Critical interfaces
By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other
departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:
Target communities and key external stakeholders at village or camp level
Other service providers and protection actors
Protection Team Leader and Project Manager
Protection Monitoring Technical Assistants
CC Teams in the geographical area of responsibility
Emergency Team in the geographical area of responsibility
Support Team in the geographical area of responsibility
Community Consultation and Referral team in the area office
M&E Team in the area office
2. Competencies
Competencies are important in order for the employee and the organisation to deliver desired
