Summary of Findings Example

Based on her research, Andrea Garcia found that the conspiracy theory that Adolf Hitler survived World War 2 and fled to Argentina has been around for a long time, gaining popularity in 1945. However, historians believe the theory is ridiculous and French scientists in 2018 studied Hitler's teeth from dental records and determined he died in 1945 in Berlin, putting an end to the conspiracy theory despite its enduring popularity.

Conspiracy Theory: Summary of Findings

Based on my research, I found that the conspiracy theory of Adolf Hitler still being alive

has been around for a very long time. Vanessa Thorpe, of The Guardian, writes, “The notorious

claim that Hitler escaped his Berlin bunker to live incognito in Argentina first gained popular

currency in 1945, when Stalin spoke of it.” Harry Atkins, from HistroyHit, further explains that

all the uncertainties surrounding Hitler’s death only served to strengthen the conspiracy theory.

Expedition Unknown’s Josh Gates researched the theory, himself, and explained that theory was

rooted in the idea that Hitler survived “…after World War II, fleeing Nazis established a secret

presence in Argentina.” This theory endured despite the fact that there was little to no first-hand

evidence, such as personal testimony from those who knew him, of Hitler being alive (Evans 30).

The theory gained so much support that even the most skeptical began to believe that maybe

Hitler was really alive and hiding away like some monster (Zebrowski). The conspiracy theory

might be scientifically proven to be untrue as Arirang News reports, “French scientists claim

they have put an end to conspiracy theories surrounding Adolf Hitler’s death after studying his

teeth.” After comparing the teeth to Hitler’s dental records, the scientists determined Hitler really

is dead.

Conspiracy Theory: Determination of Credibility

After considering the findings, I do not think that the conspiracy theory that Hitler lived

after World War II has any credibility. The reason I believe this is that historians have looked

into this matter and they believe the theory to be ridiculous (Thorpe). I also feel that the evidence

found by the French researchers is valid and credible, which means that Hitler must have died at

the end of the war. I feel as Atkins does and hopes that “Perhaps now we can finally lay the 20th

century’s most reviled dictator to rest for good.”
