Module Grade 6

Here are the steps I took to create a cartoon character using a sketchbook app on my phone: 1. I decided on an animal character - a monkey. This allowed for expressive facial features. 2. Using simple geometric shapes like circles, ovals and rectangles, I sketched the basic proportions and features of the monkey - the head, torso, arms and legs. 3. I added details like hands, feet and a tail using simple lines and shapes. 4. For the face, I drew large eyes, a small nose and mouth using ovals and lines. I gave the character an expression - smiling with its mouth open. 5. I added textures like fur using short curved lines all

Activity 2

I like the character of Dora the Explorer. She is a born explorer, always eager for the next
adventure. Though she's only seven, she serves as something of a big sister to her best friend,
Boots, and the viewer as well. With her pride in being bilingual, her respect for her elders, her
growing understanding of her culture and heritage, and her love for storytelling and music, Dora
embodies the Latina spirit. She loves embarking on quests related to an activity that she wants to
partake of or a place that she wants to go to, accompanied by her talking purple backpack and
anthropomorphic monkey companion named Boots (named for his beloved pair of red boots). I
loved watching her since Dora invites young viewers to join her on an adventure or an exploration
with a clearly defined goal at the end. Using Map to point out the stops on the way, Dora and the
viewer must solve problems and overcome obstacles along the way to their goal.

Activity 3

1. The picture shows the Department of Health is wearing a PPE fighting against
coronavirus. There are still a new number of cases. We are hoping it will decrease in the
future, but I think we need to be prepared to continue what we are doing right now.

2. Picture number 2 presents the face of Mr. Bean. He's almost always seen in his trademark
tweed jacket and skinny red tie. Mr. Bean rarely speaks, and when he does, it's generally
only a few mumbled words, which are in a comically low-pitched voice.

3. It illustrates about Universal Health Care (UHC) means all Filipinos are guaranteed
equitable access to quality and affordable health care goods and services and protected
against financial risk.

4. Picture number 3 demonstrates the boy and girl conversation who are friends talking about
their work. The boy is too emotional about his work since her friend is trying to lift up him
to finish his work well.

Activity 3

1. Asymmetrical balance in art is when each half is different but has equal visual weight. The
artwork is still balanced.

2. Contrast means difference, especially when that difference is very noticeable. The black is the
opposite of white, and so there's a contrast between black ink and white paper.

3. Variety is the use of different visual elements throughout a work, whereas unity is a feeling that
all the parts of a work fit together well. These do not have to be opposites, as a work filled
with variety might also have unity.

4. Emphasis is the principle of art that helps the audience put the story of a painting together in
their own minds. Any object or area of emphasis is called a focal point. The focal point is meant
to be the part of an artwork to which the viewer's eyes are first attracted.

V. Closure

I learned that elements and principles of art are also applied in making Comic.
Activity 2

Create your own art work using the given steps/procedure on cartoon character making in your
computer. If computer and laptop are not available, you can draw your cartoon character using
sketchbook application of your smart phone. If smart phones are not available you can draw it on
graphing paper using the pixel arts.
