can be used as building material for the construction of walls. Most of the
concrete blocks have one or more hollow cavities, and their sides can be cast
smoothly or with a style. They are stacked one by one and held together
with fresh concrete mortar to form the desired length and wall thickness. .

Hollow Concrete block is a building material that is commonly used in worldwide. The material used to
manufacture HCB must therefore be "friendly
to the environment" during its manufacturing process, as well as its esthetic
appearance, when used in structures. Its broader application offered an opportunity to use various
alternatives for the partial substitution of its ingredients .[11].
Saw dust is a waste created during cutting, drilling or otherwise resulting
from mechanical milling or processing of timber in different sizes and shapes.
Experimental investigations give an indication of using sawdust as a building
material to partially replace the fine aggregate.[16].
The sawdust consists largely of cellulose, and also contains soluble sugar,
acids, resins, oils, waxes and other organic substances which inhibit the setting and hardening of
cement. The use of cement, sawdust and sand to
construct floor and wall panels has been fairly common in many parts of the
world. [2].
In the HCB production process, the quantity of substituent material which
is sawdust does have an effect on the workability and strength properties of
HCB. an increasing of Sawdust ammount at a high percentage of replacement
affects the quality of the concrete due to a reduction in the strength value.

studied The effect of replacing quarry dust and sawdust with a fine aggregate
and calculated the optimal quantity of river sand to be replaced . Throughout their experiment, the
compressive strength on the 28th day was found
32.79 at 25 of the sawdust replacement and it clearly shows a decremental
value relative to the other replacement doses. Their finding indicates that
replacement of sawdust and quarry dust did not actually affect the properties of concrete, however the
rise in the percentage replacement amount of
sawdust reduces the compressive strength. .[ijirt144]
