    and revolver. The crime and social offence can be reduced by


    monitoring such activities and to identify antisocial behavior so that
    law enforcement agencies can take appropriate action in early stage
    The solution of this problem is to deploy surveillance system or
    control cameras with automatic handheld gun detection and alert
    system.
    Therefore, there is an increasing demand in search for automated
    surveillance algorithms . The main aim of automated surveillance is
    to alert cctv operator when there is a dangerous situation. A
    dangerous situation refers of a person or a group of persons
    attacking , creating fear or disturbances in public places wit
    dangerous weapons like knives or guns.
    Related Work:
    Our project differs from some other Object Classification problems
    in two respects: firstly, we are concerned with real-time detection,
    and thus are especially concerned with the speed of classification;
    secondly, we are especially concerned with accuracy, since a false
    alarm could result in very adverse responses. In choosing the right
    approach, we need to make the proper trade-off between accuracy
    and speed

    Aims and objectives


    The aim of this project is to develop a method to detect a particular
    kind of a weapon carried by a person in a cctv video
    1. Detection of a human in a image
    2. Detection of segment containing knife in the detected image
    segment containing human.
    3. Detect the weapon and alert the authorities about the situation.
