Cooperating Teacher Mr. Leo P. Atamosa
Cooperating School: Montevista Central Elementary School

EVALUATION OF THE PLANNED ACTIVITY AND STUDENTS’ LEARNING

To what extent did the students/pupils achieve the specific learning outcomes?
How do I know? What did I observe in students’/pupils’ responses?

When they were able to respond or answer my questions. I have observed the creativity
of their answers. Through the construction of their answers I can assess that they
really achieve the specific learning outcomes.

What modifications would I make this activity if I did it again?

(task? teaching strategies? grouping? organization? resources?)

If I will be given the chance to do it again, I would enhance all the resources that I used
especially the visual aids. I should make it more creative since I found out that it has a
big impact in catching the students’ attention. I want to put more effort in making my
visual aids and other resources. I should use an instructional materials that will suit to
the needs of the learners

EVALUATION AND REFLECTION ON MY OWN TEACHING AND LEARNING

How effective were my teaching and management skills?

At first I can say that I lacked management skills especially in establishing an authority
in class but when my cooperating teacher advised me to set rules before starting the
class so that my classroom management will be effective I think was able to provide
their needs and improved my classroom management skills.

What goals should I set for improvement in my next planned activity?

In terms of activity, I must establish a rule to have a disciplined students to have a good
flow of activity.

What else did I learn about my teaching?

At first I can say that I lacked management skills especially in establishing an authority
in class but when my cooperating teacher advised me to set rules before starting the
class so that my classroom management will be effective I think was able to provide
their needs and improved my classroom management skills.

ASPECTS FOR DISCUSSION

Things I want to discuss with my cooperating teacher or TEI practicum supervisor are

I want to discuss those things that I need to improve and what are the ways in improving those
things.

Task: Use your journals to reflect on the following questions.

JOURNAL 1
On Preparing a Lesson Plan

Name: Melchizedec S. Mendez Date

Subject Area: MAPEH Cooperating Teacher: Mr. Leo P. Atamosa

1. Describe the goals and purpose of your lesson plan.

Lesson plan is a guide for teachers for their lesson to inline his/her objectives in the
class. Learning outcomes are achieved once the students had come up with what we call
the maximum learning. Through assessment or evaluation results, teachers would be able
to know whether they have or have not absorbed and applied the concepts they must
gain during class discussion.

2. What problems did you encounter in writing your lesson plan?

In making lesson plan I have some difficulties like how to make the objectives that meet the
interest of the learners. How to create the activities that fits into the objectives. And how
to deliver my topic into the class and what teaching strategy to be use but we learn in the
first time, make some observations and try to reflect where is the part of my lesson plan I
cannot follow and why then make some changes till your lesson plan fits and met the
learning interest of the learners.

3. How can you improve your written lesson plan?

I can improve my lesson plan by putting extra time on doing it. Because if I had a full time
on creating it, I know I can do more something about it that will encourage my students to
listen well during in my class discussion.
4. Did you deviate from your lesson plan? Why/ why not?
As a fist time teacher to deviate into your plan makes some confusion but in the real
field you cannot take away the possibility that we can be depart from our lesson plan if
during the discussion the learners interest depart from your lesson plan but it should be in
line to your objectives.
5. Experienced teachers claim that they “can teach their classes even without a lesson plan.” How
do you react to this? Provide reasons for your answer.
Experienced teacher that they can teach without lesson plan because as a teacher if you
are master of your topic you can teach without lesson plan and you already know the
sequence of your classes you are master so you can teach without using lesson plan.

Instructional Materials
Name: Melchizedec S. Mendez Date
Subject Area: MAPEH Cooperating Teacher: Mr. Leo Atamosa

1. What is the importance of developing/preparing Instructional Materials?

It very important the attention of the learners that's why we need to develop the instructional
materials before you present it, also preparing as a teacher you need to be prepared always
specially the Instructional materials before you going to discuss you must be prepared.

2. Describe one of the instructional materials you made. What was its purpose? Why did you
prepare it this way?

One of the Instructional materials I was made is visual aid,the purpose is to help the
students to understand more especially the students who are visual learners, I prepare
because that is also part of teaching.
3. How will your instructional materials influence students/pupil’s learning? Give two examples.

Instructional materials can influence student learning because they can help them to be
excited to listen for example,1 watching TV or story so while the students watch they can
also analyzed what is the mean of the story about through watching TV. 2.color visual aid.

4. How will you know if your materials are effective in enhancing student learning?

I will know if my instructional materials are effective in the students learning by giving activity
or to evaluate them, and also know if there are interaction in the class and the students
appreciate my instructional materials.

JOURNAL 3
On Actual Team Teaching

Name: Melchizedec S. Mendez Date

Subject area: MAPEH Cooperating Teacher: Mr. Leo Atamosa
1. After you have done your first actual team teaching, what were your realizations?
How did you feel about co-teaching the lesson?
Teaching in the Field is not easy because you need to talk before the students and you
have no idea what kind of person they are it is needed to have passion in teaching
and also the most important thing is you have patience. The role of a teacher is to
provide the needs of the students thus communication skills and modulated and
monotonous voice is needed in this kind of field. And this moment is an unforgettable
experience that I ever had because aside from the difficulties I encountered, I enjoyed
and happy especially if you can see that your students are respectful have learn
something from you.

2. What do you think went well in the lesson? Give details.

The lesson went will, though there are times of lapses but still it was all cover up at the
other ways. As conducting the first actual teaching of their present lesson, it is not easy as
they were teachers observed you but it was better so that we as choosing this career will
be given advice on how to be an effective teacher someday.
During the teaching process, I am the assisted to my buddy as he was explaining in front to
give what must be the materials pasted on the board and in activity assisting the groups to
what they would do and vice versa

3. What would you like to improve and focus on during future planning and delivery?

During future planning and delivery I would like to improve and focus on the content of the
lesson, the relevance on it in our daily doings, because learners easily understand if they
already experienced it. The things that I will improve are the instructional materials and also
the medium of communication.

JOURNAL 4
On Examining the Resources

Name: Melchizedec S. Mendez Date

Subject Area: MAPEH Cooperating Teacher: Mr. Leo Atamosa

1. What is the importance of aligning the Instructional Resources and learning activities with the
objectives of the lesson?

The importance of it is to make relevance of your instructional materials to your certain

topic, and of to add information to your learner. Interconnected resources will help teacher
to easily explain or deliver it unto the learner it because from the learning materials
they will think what would be the topic all about. For you as a teacher, it will not be hassle
to find another resource if you can make your materials as an examples. The relevance
and the interconnectivity of instruction materials to your objective will be the most
important.

2. What difficulties have you encountered in planning your lesson plan with regards to the
availability of instructional material resources?

The difficulties that I have encountered in planning lesson plan with regards to the
availability of instructional materials; fist, the difficulty on how to materialize the resources
to be more efficient and effective to the learners when I teach to them, second is how to be
consistent in making instructional materials, the creativity of doing it. Lastly, if I may able to
manage so that my materials will be useless.

3. What have you done to address this problem? (refer to question #2)

My aid of this problem is that to think well and I put the situation that I am in the class
teaching using these resources, and imagine what would be the impact to the learners. I am
the one who will evaluate it first, and then if I am not confident of it I will refer it to other
person to judge what would the negative or positive impact to the learners and then asking
for suggestion to him

DAILY JOURNALS
DAY 1

It’s day 1 of our FS 4 and our task was to observed our assigned CT. We were assigned in Grade
5 Leo under the advisory of Sir Leo Atamosa. Our CT was very approachable and very kind. I
observed that he is a goal-directed person. He constructs useful representations of knowledge to
acquire the thinking and learning strategies for his students to learn. He was very particular with the
behavior of his students, he sets rule in order to have an organized classroom and to control also
the behavior of the students. During his discussions his students really listened carefully, he has a
trait that motivates the students to generate and pursue personally relevant goals which is very
applicable for them because it helps them to reach longer-term goals. He was able to use different
approaches to teach his students effectively. He always tell his students to know what is the right
thing to do and to be open minded and to focused on reaching a specific objective. He keeps the
discussion interactive and entertaining. He used traditional and modern equipment or materials
according to the required expected learning from the students. He didn’t just ask questions,
sometimes he gives suggestions or methods of acquiring the desired result from the students’
learning.

DAY 2

It was the day of our first actual teaching, I felt a little bit nervous at that time since it was my first
time to have an actual teaching. The implementation of my first actual teaching introduced me the
challenges of the real world of teaching profession and showed me the essence and importance of
teaching. I have realized that dealing students in a friendly manner increased maximum
participation. In a teaching-learning situation the non-threatening atmosphere enhances learning in
a natural or traditional set up of teaching. I have realized also that it is very important that the
teacher knows the behavior of the students and motivates them and give them an equal attention.
My first actual teaching together with my buddy was a bit of success but not really satisfactory
because there were some minor lapses that must be correct in the next demo teaching. Our
cooperating teacher told us that such things are expected because even them it still happens. There
are two major things that I need to improve to my next actual teaching, first is that I must improve
my communication skills and second is the instructional materials we need to be more creative with
the instructional materials. We needed to provide a colorful and creative instructional materials for
the learners. I am expecting to improve myself in handling the students the next time around since I
already know a bit the behavior of the students.

DAY 3

It was our second actual teaching, I was more confident since I am more prepared together with my
buddy. My mistakes during my first actual teaching help me a lot to evaluate the things I should
improve. The strategies that we applied during our second actual teaching was an activity that every
pupil felt enjoyed the discussions and at the same time they learned a lot from it. The first thing that
we did was assessing our students if they still remember about the last topic that we discussed. I
felt happy because they were able to answer our assessment.

DAY 4
On the fourth day of field study it is the last part and the last moment with my co-pre-service
teacher. She continues actual demonstration to teach the students and to continue again the topic.
My cooperating teacher Mr.Leo Atamosa he observed again to my actual demonstration. My co-pre-
service teacher she is first to teach lessons their students then follow me as team teaching as we
observed it’s very challenging and fun if your partner is really good in teaching she is cooperate to
me and help me if I have a problem about my teaching. During my demonstration I will group my
students into a row to perform their task activity or oral participation in the front of their classmates’
observed to my students some of them who did not read carefully and clearly. My strategy is
repeating the reading on the board and tells their students read everybody in louder his/her voice.
The cooperation of the students made me amazed. They hands their arms up and even they are
noisy a little bit but it was all about conversations of the topic. I have observed the grade five class I
was observing that there individual differences capabilities in general. There are students who have
the potential to be great, active learners. In their lessons proper, I can say that teachers’ daily
routine is good at least by reviewing their past lesson. The students remember what they had
tackled in previous meeting before going to the next topic. I observed also that the teacher is good
in handling to his students and managing the class. One thing got my attention and even curiosity
was the smooth relationship of the students towards their teacher. They have a harmonious
interaction. The students were not afraid or got nervous with their teacher which usually happens
Mr. Leo Atamosa was a humorous person despite he is single person. He makes his students
laughed of his jokes sometimes he is serious. He knows his students very well. Grade-V students of
Montevista Central Elementary school have a harmonious relationship with their teacher Mr. Leo
Atamosa maybe because they treat their teacher as if it was their brother or father.I had learned
success of individual should not be measured by what is differentiation is important so that each
child can work at his own level so they opportunity to progress whatever level work at.

DAY 5
This day is the last day of our team teaching. We are so excited for our demonstration that day.As
we arrived at Montivesta Central Elementary School exactly 12:30 o'clock then we logbook the
attendance immediatly and go to our assigned room. We greeted our CT and students. Then we
said to our CT that ma'am by this time we will having our last team teaching class for the students.
As usual started the class from the prayer up to the middle of the class.and drill the topic that we are
going to discuss by this time is all about "mga bulan sa tuig"I am very grateful the most of the
students actively participating the activity "Singing lubi- lubi.I really admired and appreciate this
students in grade 1 she /he are very participated when it comes to the activity task.I am so thankful
that time having learning during the singing lubi- lubi activity.
As ,we say thank you and Goodbye to students. And the students respond Goodbye too
ma'am.Some of the students will ask were you come back to teach again ma'am.I really them
