Scenario 1 Questions
Basic Questions:
● What are a few goals you have for the gifted program in your building?
● Is there anything you would like me to change about the gifted program as it
is now?
● Who is a part of the placement committee currently and do I need to work on
finding replacements if there are open spots?
● Was the previous GT facilitator a part of any committees or teams that I need
to be aware of?
● How does the school reach out and interact with stakeholders in the
community (events, communication, website, etc)?
● What types of professional development will I need to attend this year?
● Am I expected to present any kind of professional development to the
district/building staff during the school year? If so, what topics would you
like me to cover?
● During PLC times, would you like me to meet with general education
teachers or have my own PLC time with other gifted staff?
Practical Questions:
● How would you like me to conduct pull-out services and enrichment
services amidst the pandemic and social distancing guidelines?
● How often would you like me to send in lesson plans (weekly, monthly, etc)?
● What has the GT teacher used in the past to communicate with parents? Was
it effective?
● In what ways is the gifted program currently serving GT students of color?
● How often would you like to observe activities going on in the GT
classroom and in enrichment services?
● What kind of curriculum is used school-wide and in the GT program?
Scenario 1
Theoretical Issues:
● I was looking through the assessment materials the GT program uses to
determine a student’s placement and noticed a couple of the instruments are
not conducive to all students’ needs. How would I go about ordering new
assessments and knowing more about my budget?
● There is a great opportunity for me to attend training in computer sciences
and robotics. If I am able to attend that, will I be able to get a substitute to
cover my classes and enrichment services?
● In the event that we have a TAV visit from the Department of Elementary
and Secondary Education, would you like me to keep all of my evidence of
following the GT Standards digitally, physically, or is there another method
that is already in place?
● Do I have a place where I can keep student files, standard evidence, and
budget information in a locked cabinet?
● In the event that I have a parent that would like to have a meeting with me,
and considering the COVID-19 pandemic, would you like for me to meet
with those parents virtually, and would you be willing to join that meeting
with me?
● For my students that are continuing to learn virtually this year, I would like
to utilize Google Classroom to communicate with them and assign work. Is
there another learning management system that the building is currently
using that you would like me to use instead of or in correlation with Google
Classroom?
