Simplest and quickest ever – I’m sure – Baby’s bib

Use a nice thick, yet soft, chunky/ bulky yarn – I used Debbie Bliss Como, and largish double pointed needles (you only need double
points for the i-cord neck tie, so you could work the bib on straight needles until then if you wished) – I used 5mm (US size 8) needles.

Pattern
Cast on 9 sts.
Row 1 (inc) (RS) Kfb, K to last st, kfb. 11sts
Row 2 P.
- I worked in a letter motif pattern (there are loads charts for these on the web) beg the motif on the 9th row.
Rep last 2 rows (rows 1 & 2) 7 times. 25sts
Work 14 rows st st
Shape neck
Row 31 K10sts, bind off 5 sts, k to end.
Right neck tie
Row 32 (dec) P8, P2tog. 9sts.
Row 33 K.
Row 34 (dec) P to last 2 sts at Neck, p2tog. 8sts
Rep last 2 rows four times more. 4sts
K4 work as i cord by sliding sts to other end of dpn without turning, continue until neck cord measures 25cm/ 10in.
Next rnd (dec) [K2tog] twice. 2sts
Next rnd (dec) K2tog. 1st
Fasten off weave in end.
Left neck tie
Row 32 (dec) WS facing, rejoin yarn to 10 sts. P2 tog, p to end. 9sts
Row 33 K.
Row 34 (dec) P2 tog, p to end. 8sts
Rep last 2 rows four times more. 4sts
K4 work as i cord by sliding sts to other end of dpn without turning, continue until neck cord measures 25cm/ 10in.
Next rnd (dec) [K2tog] twice. 2sts
Next rnd (dec) K2tog. 1st
Fasten off weave in end.
