Aim: Modelling and optimization of aerodynamic flow over a turbine blade in order to
decrease the drag and extract maximum electrical power out of the rig by optimising the
turbine blade design using the CFD technique

1. Design, Develop and test using the fluent Software and compare to any relevant
work done before
2. By controlling the profile of the blades: Pitch control; Airfoil shape; Design tip
speed ratio etc.
3. Model the airflow around the wind turbine and test and record test data
4. Blade Element momentum theory - An Aerodynamic shape optimization of the
design based on Genetic Algorithm and Blade Element Momentum Theory is
developed for rotor blades of horizontal axis wind turbines optimization studies
are performed for the maximization of power production at a specific wind speed,
rotor speed and rotor diameter

The aims will be assessed by test results review and any relevant research done before
