    THE PROBLEM

    Statement of the Problem

    Upon making this research, the researchers aim to find out the perception of Barangay
    Tangke about the implementation of Oplan Tokhang, a war against drugs. Since there is rampant
    drug trade and a large number of drug users and pushers in the said barangay. This research will
    be attained by answering the following questions below.

    *How is Oplan Tokhang implemented in the barangay?

    *How effective is the implementation of Oplan Tokhang in the barangay?

    *How Oplan Tokhang effects the community?


    Significance of the Study

    The findings of this study will answer how Oplan Tokhang is implemented, how effective it is,
    and, how the campaign affects the community of the Barangay Tangke. It will also answer if the
    program really solve the rising criminality cases due to illegal drugs and would also prove if the
    drug dependents and dealers have stopped their use and selling of prohibited drugs in the said
    barangay.

    To the Researchers, it would help them to understand why and how this campaign was
    implemented. The researchers could also find out if the campaign is really successful and how
    far can it take. This could also enable the researchers to find out if the campaign against illegal
    drugs can help boost the country’s economy.

    To the Barangay Officials, it would help them to find out the perception of the residents about
    the implementation of the program; how it is really implemented by the police officers, how
    affective it is and how it affects the community,its residents. From it, the barangay officials could
    add or think of another approach or program that may help the barangay to have peace and order.

    To the Community, it would be a help to know the effects of the oplan tokhang to the barangay
    as one. This would help them if there is a need to pursue or not to pursue the implementation of
    the program, oplan tokhang and they would be guided as to the operational activities conducted
    by the Talisay Police Station personnel relative to the Operation “TOKHANG” and social
    profiling. Futher, the community would feel safe in their home/business/work and their daily
    endeavors.

    To the Youth, the findings would be a help an eye opener to what is happening and what the
    program has done to their respective barangays.
    To the Talisay City Police Station personnel, the resultant perception obtained by this research
    concerning PNP personnel will give the Talisay City Police Station personnel a full
    understanding of the general guidelines, procedures and their tasks in the conduct of the
    Philippine National Police Anti-Illegal Drugs Campaign “OPLAN TOKHANGl” in support to
    the strategy nurtured by His Excellency Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte in neutralizing drug
    personalities nationwide.

    To the Surrenderers, they would have a full understanding of the entire nature and scope of the
    “Project OPLAN TOKHANG” such that they would be able to completely appreciate the value
    of drug-free Barangay, understand the rationale and purpose of the “OPLAN TOKHANG”,
    enhance camaraderie with Talisay Police Station personnel, community and among themselves.
    Further, they would realize and internalized the ill effects of drug use and change for a new,
    better, happy sustainable life.

    To the Local Government Units, this research would provide insights to the Local Government
    of the City of Talisay, Cebu in understanding the dynamics of the “Project OPLAN TOKHANG”
    in their tasks to perform specific functions/corporate responsibility/ Tangible and Intangible
    Contributions/ Financial & Logistical Support for the continuity of the binding “Project OPLAN
    TOKHANG”.

    To the Future Researchers, they would make use of data obtained by the case study in their
    own separate and distinct academic works which will lead to further drug-free in the country.
