MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

On Saturday, January 15, 2021, there was an earthquake in the Malunda sub-district in West

Sulawesi at 02.00 A.M. Before the earthquake happened, I still had a tax lab course lecture,

there I was still relaxed and relaxed listening to the lecturer explaining the course material.

Suddenly I felt the seat I was sitting on rocking, I thought my low blood pressure had flared

up but when my cousin shouted the earthquake there I realized that this was not a symptom of

my low blood pressure recurring. At that time it was very difficult for me to walk out of the

house while taking my siblings out of the house because the earthquake was 5.0 magnitude.

after I left the house my siblings were very nervous they were looking for my parents who

were still at work, I wanted to call them but the network was cut right away. My siblings and

I were very worried if there was another aftershock and my position at that time was only five

of them with my cousins and siblings and also at home there were no vehicles that I could use

to evacuate to the top of the mountain. Not long after, my parents came to take us all to seek

refuge on the mountain, precisely at the border door leading to Mamuju, where many people

fled.

When I got the signal I tried to contact my classmate, namely Nurazizah Fauziyah, to tell

my lecturer who was still teaching when the earthquake occurred that it was currently

impossible for me to continue studying because of my situation at that time.

after we felt that the earthquake was no longer there, my family and I returned to my house.

At night where I live, the sea water is rising to the surface until the house I live in is flooded

by sea water. When the sea water had receded, my family and I did the cleaning of our two
houses which were only limited by a few houses. when the clock showed 11 o'clock in the

evening my family and I had cleaned thoroughly, we also had dinner at our house but my

position, my cousin, father, mother and my siblings were different from the house. my cousin

and I slept in my last house while my father, mother and siblings slept in the other house.

at 12pm my cousin and I wanted to eat noodles because it was raining. when we both

finished eating, we went back to the room to sleep. in my room I still don't feel sleepy and it

makes me bored. Finally I chatted with my seniors until 1 pm I just felt sleepy and fell asleep.

but not long after that the bed that I was using was rocking I thought maybe it was my

hallucination it turned out that the earthquake was getting louder and when I got up from the

bed to run it was very difficult and the access door to the exit from the house was difficult to

open there I was surrendered if I didn't can get out of the house. not long after that the door to

the house could be opened and the earthquake was still going on. my cousin and I ran out of

the house to save ourselves. I was very scared if at that time a tsunami occurred and also the

position of my house was very close to the sea, all of us in the area could only calm each

other down. I ran towards my father and hugged him afraid that there was something wrong

with my father and mother because we were sleeping in different houses. when the

earthquake stopped, we hurriedly took the keys to the house and all important files and left

for a safe place.
