Science 7 Module (Lesson 1)
Science 7 Module (Lesson 1)
Duration : 4 days
Overview
The Scientific Method is a logical and rational order of steps in answering questions about the world around us.
Rationale
This topic will expose you to the world of scientists. To know how scientists work and how they solve problems. In most cases,
scientists solve problems by making thorough investigations. This process seeks to answer questions that are essential in science
guided by the scientific method.
Learning Activities
How can you learn about this lesson or learning activity?
I. Getting Started
● Good Morning / Afternoon students. How are you today? I am Sir Ron Marrionne Abulan, your Science teacher
and I hope you feel good. Let us begin our session with a prayer. Altogether we say: In the name of the Father
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Blessing and glory, wisdom and thanksgiving, honor and power, and might be to our God,
forever and ever. Amen.
● To start our session, let us review what you know about scientific methods. Read each item carefully and go to
the link provided. (To be sent thru google mails) https://forms.gle/segvAnFYZU75tw2FA

● There you go! I need your help. I want to find out the series of steps of a scientific method to become a
scientist. Can you help me? All we have to do is read and understand the text below to find these steps. Are
you ready? Let’s start!
● Science is a way of thinking and a way of gathering knowledge about the world that is both accurate and reliable. It is the quest to
understand and improve our knowledge of the world around us, and how the things in it work or why they work the way they do.
● The scientific method is like the road map that you follow to get to that destination. It is the process by which science is carried out, as
in other areas of inquiry; science through scientific method can build on previous knowledge and develop a more sophisticated
understanding of its topics of study over time.
● The scientific method is a sequence of steps followed by scientists to differentiate fact from myth and superstition, or validate or refute
speculations. It is a systematic and orderly approach to gathering data and solving problems that involves the following steps: observe-to
identify a problem; research-to gather related information; hypothesize-to predict a likely outcome; testing-designing and performing an
experiment; analyzing data, and drawing conclusion(s).
● When scientists follow the scientific method, they do so not necessarily in the exact same order. Each scientist has a unique style of
doing things. The important thing is that despite such differences, they should arrive at the same conclusion for the same hypothesis.
Differences in results may arise because of other factors that have to be further investigated. It is necessary that scientists share their
findings with the world. Always keep a record of your data and ideas, and write a report of your findings.
● Aside from your experimental findings, readers may be interested to know your recommendations on how to improve the experiment.
Communicate your work to others who may be interested in your work by writing a journal. The scientific method is a systematic way
of generating information based on keen observation, persistent experimentation, and intuitive inferences. The method should be
unprejudiced. Regardless of who the researcher or experimenter is, the results should always be the same for the same hypothesis.
● To understand more the scientific method, let us look at the powerpoint presentation. (To be presented by the

V. Checking Out
(Asynchronous)
● Based on the things you learned from our lesson, on your notebook, design a simple scientific investigation on
a specific problem in your area or at home, write it on your science notebook. For example, you turn the light
switch ON and the bulb does not light inside your room. Use scientific method in your investigation. Describe
each step that you will do to solve the problem. Take a picture of it and share it in Google Classroom.
