in energy cost for
The biggest players in the data center industry are raising the thermostats in their data center with every degree of
large savings in energy costs. But higher data center temperatures imply new challenges both for upward change in
the data center Energy Manager, who may have less time to recover from a cooling failure, and the set point.
for the cooling system that must ensure the right condition for the IT equipment with the maximum
efficiency and without system failures.
Cooling a high temperature data center is a critical mission that requires a deep knowledge
of cooling systems. With its strong expertise in data center cooling, Schneider Electric
introduces Uniflair Room Cooling HXCV, the solution designed to cool data centers at
extreme high temperatures.
Besides raising data center temperatures, the key factors to reduce power usage are leveraging
more and more on free cooling solutions and reducing process costs. Maximizing the free cooling
operation of a chilled water system means to increase water operating temperatures, reduce
power usage of pumping systems, and extend the water DT. Higher water temperatures and wider
DT represent a big challenge for chilled water air conditioners because they require a redesign of
the water coil to optimize thermal efficiency.

pPUE has never been so low
HXCV HT (High Temperature) is designed to maximize the efficiency of the thermal exchange and
precisely provide appropriate supply air temperature to the servers. These units are designed to
ensure cold air entering the IT equipment at a temperature between 24°C and 25°C with a water
regimes of 20-30°C and hot air of 37°C.
Extended use of free-cooling operation is provided by HXCV HTE (High Temperature Extended)
version, specifically designed for wider DT with a water regimes of 20-32°C.
HXCV air conditioners maximize their benefits when integrated in a comprehensive chilled
water cooling system. The operation with Uniflair free-cooling chillers with trim cooling (Uniflair
DSAF), ensures extremely low OPEX compared to available chilled water cooling systems and an
extremely low system pPUE.

While data center loads are increasing, there is less space available for cooling equipment that
must therefore provide the required cooling capacity with a minimum white space occupancy.
Uniflair HXCV is designed to provide the highest cooling capacity in the linear occupancy
compared with traditional units, even working with challenging water temperatures. With HXCV units,
the space available for the IT equipment is maximized thanks to their boosted cooling capacity.
Schneider Electric protects customer’s security and privacy. HXCV units ensure:
Advanced Control
Advanced control logics ensure an intelligent operation of HXCV units to meet the cooling and
airflow needs without wasting energy.
• Air flow control adapts to specific data center air distribution strategies (hot or cold aisle)
and ensures efficient air flow management
• Advanced microprocessor control system UG50 enables direct communication between multiple
HXCV units (up to 15) enabling precise cooling and high reliability
Metering and continuous monitoring of the operating parameters are key for a precise control
of the cooling system operation to prevent system failures. HXCV units can measure operating
conditions as well as cooling capacity and power consumption. All data can be easily shared
with any Building Management System as units come with a complete set of integrated cards that
ensure a wide and secure connectivity. Native integration with EcoStruxure™ IT Platform via SNMP
is also provided.
