Patriarchy in Pakistan: Women rights and lack of Opportunities

Research Design

The research design is qualitative because the effects and implications of patriarchy cannot be
explained well with the statistical data. The qualitative approach will provide an in-depth
understanding of our research topic.  Also, in literature, the qualitative methods are
considered more fitting for feministic researches because they allow the more subjective and
equal relationship between the researcher and the researched.

Research Hypothesis

The patriarchal system in Pakistan limits the opportunities for females in various fields, it
also limits access to resources and their representation in the public sector. Females are
involved in all sectors of the economy but in Pakistan, the female representation in the public
sector is very low. They are also often overlooked in important jobs and also in the
entrepreneurial funds or sources, they don’t get many opportunities.

Methodology

The analysis will be based on the secondary data from already published work in this domain
of research and the interviews conducted by a selected sample consisting of different women
from different socioeconomic statuses. The interviews will be descriptive and will interpret
certain conditions concerning gender inequalities in Pakistan. The interview questions will be
open-ended so that the interviewees can express themselves freely and then we will identify
the variables for this research so that we can do our analysis.

Rationale for Methodology

The rationale for using interviews is to get more accurate causes and implications of
patriarchy and identify what can be done to overcome such patriarchal problems in Pakistan.
This can be explained well with open ended structured or unstructured interviews rather than
the questionnaires or surveys.
