2
MODULE AIM
The module aims to equip students with knowledge of
complex theory and analysis methodology for indeterminate
structures; and nurture students’ problem-solving skills and
engineering sense on the application of structural theory to
real-life engineering problems.
It will also develop their ability to use common computer
programme to analyse tall building performance.

3
MODULE LEARNING
OUTCOMES
MLO1 analyse statically indeterminate structures using stiffness
method;
MLO2 evaluate the lower and upper bound load carrying capacity
of structures using plastic theory;
MLO3 carry out modal analysis of structures with single and
multi-degrees of freedom under dynamic loads; and
MLO4 perform computational structural analysis for tall buildings
and complex structures.
