Table of Content

1) Statement of Intent
2) Technical Skill Profile – describes my current technical skill sets, tools available to me, how these
tools fit into a larger picture of being able to provide significant value, what does it mean to
have value in a organization and institution, how I believe I can help… what is the environment
in which I can help you.
a. What are my tools
b. Where do I believe I should use these tools to fully utilize my capability
c. My greatest strength in not having these tools but to be able to develop additional tools
and internal self-created processes to be able to not only improve the amount of tasks I
can complete competently, but also to improve the method with which I complete task,
improving upon my own efficiency
d. I think the critical thing to be able to communicate in this sections are
i. What it is I can currently do
ii. Where, what product types, what type of challenge, would have the greatest
needs for these type of tools, let’s discuss environment and people
iii. Let’s go further and discuss not only the attainment of skills, but also the ability
to adjust how I do things, and to be able to identify the most critical and
complicated problems with seemingly impossible solutions and to be able to
generate a strategy and solve a problem that I’ve never seen before. That is
what drives me, what I want to do, what makes my world spin…
1. I want to use my work at Ethicon Endo Surgery as a great example, I
want to go in depth into explaining what it is I did there and why it could
have been so impactful and why this kind of problem
2. Let me think about how to fit this in
3. Also to discuss the role of analytics for an engineer, is it always about
what you can build, or is it in fact about what you can visualize how the
things you build works and then you build it…
e. The key with this whole section is to allow people to have a good understanding of how
I can help them, and what “them” looks like, I need to define skill profile and where I
think that skill profile fit. And I also need to expand that to include not only individual
tools, but my ability, willingness to take on challenges that require much more than just
utilizing tools, but developing new tools. That’s how I grow. This way, I define
environment, the tool sets, as well as what I want to do long term.
f.
3) Connection between the present and the future
a. I need to address the question of short term and long term goal, but not directly but
indirectly with the idea of how what it is I am looking to do now is able to get me in
terms of crednetials, benefits, experiences, etc, which allows me to get to where I want
to be in the future
b. A vision of myself in the future – what is it that I want to be able to become
c. Where am I now in terms of my current skill profile, I think it is highly critical to be able
to be honest with myself in terms of item b and c here because this is the essential of
short term and long term goal and how the decision I make today will have an impact in
the future. I need to know what I want to become….
