Faults
Note:
This is a serious fault, and can't be reset with normal reset command. Explicit hardware check is
required. To enable reset of this fault, please refer to signal parameter table (parameter 16.19).
Causes - Wrong connection of optical fire through link.
- Defective crowbar drive.
- Defective crowbar thyristors.
Rectification - Check optical fire through link.
- Check crowbar drive.
- Check crowbar thyristors.
- Contact ABB service organization.

Causes - At least one of the rectifier diodes is damaged.
- Measurement hardware problem (CVMI2B board, HVD board).
- Wrong parameter settings.
Rectification - Check related parameters
- Check rectifier diodes
- Check measurement hardware (CVMI2B board, HVD board)
- Check fiber optic cables and connections
- Check network conditions
- Contact ABB service organization.

Causes - One of the EMC filter capacitors is damaged.
- Wrong parameter settings.
Rectification - Check EMC filter capacitors.
- Check parameters 186.100 to 186.104.
- Contact ABB service organization.

Causes - Diode fault in LSU
- Link error
- EAF board error
- control issue (large NP diviation, ...)
Rectification - Check EAF board and the link to MainINT board.
- Check rectifier diodes.
- Contact ABB service organization.

Causes - Too high voltage in the upper or lower half of DC link exceeding the overvoltage Firing Trough
limit.
- PPCS communication error
- Fiber optic link faulty
- Measurement device defective (HVD, PhaseINT)
Rectification - Use datalogger to check if there was too high voltage
- Check for other related faults
- Check fiber optic cables and connections between MainINT PhaseINT of Inverter 1 phase A
(upper DC) and/or B (lower DC)
- Check HVD board, measurement cables and PhaseINT board of Inverter 1 phase A (upper DC)
and or B(lower DC))
- Contact ABB service organization.

Causes - Converter short circuit
- Protection Firing (The fault always appears in the fault logger after a Firing Through)
- Defective circuit board
Rectification - Check for other related faults
- Check phase modules respecting short circuit, especially if there are DESAT faults in the fault
logger
- Check other parts connected to the DC after clamp choke
- Contact ABB service organization

- Wrong parameter settings.
Rectification - Check sine filter power HW.
- Check current transducers in fitler branches.
- Check related parameters.
- Contact ABB service organization.

Causes - Short circuit in the network transformer or in the drive rectifier.
- Overload of the network transformer.
- Measurement hardware problem.
- Wrong protection settings.
Rectification - Check the network transformer and the rectifier diodes.
- Check measurement hardware.
- Check the drive maximum power during the operation.
- Verify the protection settings (190.9, 186.83-186.86) and transformer nameplate data.
