Q#1 A lighting control system is to be developed. The system will be controlled by four
switches, SWITCH1, SWITCH2, SWITCH3, and SWITCH4. These switches will control
the lighting in a room based on the following criteria:
1. Any of three of the switches SWITCH1, SWITCH2, and SWITCH3, if turned ON
can turn the lighting on, but all three switches must be OFF before the lighting
will turn OFF.
2. The fourth switch SWITCH4 is a Master Control Switch. If this switch is in the
ON position, the lights will be OFF and none of the other three switches have any
control.
Problem: Design the wiring diagram for the controller connections, assign the inputs and
outputs and develop the ladder diagram which will accomplish the task.
Q#2 Automatic Mixer
Figure 12.1A is a simplified representation of an automatic mixing system.
The tank in the diagram is filled with a fluid, agitated for a length of time, and then
emptied. Figure 12.1 B is a state description of the process, which gives the
order of operation of the process. A state description is similar to a flowchart in
computer programming. Construct a ladder diagram of the automatic mixer of

Q#3 A sequential control circuit for a pneumatic cylinder ط0غو0مض0اء ال0هو0 بال0ل0عم0 ت0ة0ان0 اسطوis
shown in Figure 3.16. When the cylinder is connected to the exhaust line خط العادم, the
spring returns the piston to its retracted position . When the cylinder is con nected to
the air supply line, the piston is in its extended position. The solenoid valve exhausts
the cylinder when it is deenergized, and supplies air pressure to the cylinder when
it is energized.
When the start button is pressed and released, relay 1CR is energized. One of the
1CR contacts holds the coil in the energized position; the other 1CR contact energizes
solenoid a, which connects the supply line to the cylinder. When the piston reaches its
extended position , the end of the piston actuates limit switch 1LS. The actuation of
1LS de-energizes relay 1CR which, in turn, de-energizes solenoid a. The piston
returns to the retracted to its starting position.
Question !
Modify the control circuit so that an alarm signal is
started as long as the piston is moving .
Q#4 The hydraulic equivalent of the above sequential
system is shown in Figure 3.17.
Modify the control circuit such that pump motor is first working before the
solenoid valve is energized.
Q#5
A sequential control circuit for a
hydraulic hoist 0ي0ك0ي0ل0و0ر0د0ي0 ه0ع0ف0ا0 رis shown in
Figure 3.18. This system uses a three-
position solenoid valve which presents
a special problem. Since it is not
desirable to energize both solenoids at
the same time, an interlock تشابكcan be
used to eliminate this possibility. The
hydraulic hoist system is started and
stopped by energizing relay 1M, which
starts the pump motor and. energizes the
solenoid control circuit. When the up
switch is pressed, relay 1 CR is
energized. Half of the interlock feature
acts when the normally closed 1CR
contact opens so that relay 2CR cannot
be energized. The normally open 1CR
contact closes and solenoid a is
energized. This connects the hydraulic
supply line to the bottom of the
hydraulic cylinder, raising the platform_
When valve goes to the neutral
position. The cylinder is locked in its
present position as long as the solenoid
is in neutral. When the down switch is
pressed, relay 2CR is energized the
normally closed 2CR contact opens
so that relay 1CR contact energized.
This is the second half of the interlock
feature . The normally open 2CR
contact closes and solenoid b is energized
