TUGUEGARAO IS ON FIRE!

Introduction

A beautiful image of a city is also one of the most important requirements for
tourism. Because of social media, tourists tend to visit places with “picture-worthy”
attractions for them to share on their social media accounts. Aside from these, people
nowadays have become more fascinated and interested with attractions that are associated
with nature, such as mountains, eco-parks, green spaces, etc. Trees and green spaces in
urban and community areas can create a positive image and provide an aesthetically
pleasing experience for both residents and tourists.

Trees provide

a multitude of benefits, both long and short term. As well as being attractive aesthetically,
they reduce the risk of flooding, enhance air quality by filtering harmful dust and pollutants
such as ozone, carbon monoxide, and sulfur dioxide from the air we breathe. Trees also
improve the urban heat effect by reflecting sunlight and providing shade.

Many studies have shown that spending time with trees and green spaces also
reduces the amount of stress that we carry around with us in our daily lives. This is why
having trees planted along the streets have a special calming effect, which makes traffic
more bearable and manageable.

In this connection, the Tuguegarao City Environment and Natural Resources Office
proposes a project which aims to plant fire trees along the city roads in the city.
