1. INTRODUCTION
This document describes the installation procedure of the BRGM Process Analysis Software range:
USIM PAC, BILCO and ECHANT. It concerns the installation and activation of a standalone soft license.
Read it carefully and follow instruction.

The installation procedure is located in the Master_CD_PAS_XXXX_English (where XXXX is the version
number) folder that can be either delivered on a CD ROM or downloaded from the support web site
and unzipped.

A personal serial number configures the installation wizard according to the ordered applications and
modules1. This serial number is delivered with the software CD ROM or sent by e-mail in case of
downloading from the support website.

Process Analysis Software applications are installed on each user’s computer. The license management
service is installed on the same computer.

2. HOW TO DO
If it is the first time you install a Process Analysis Software application (USIM PAC or BILCO or ECHANT)
on your computer, you need to follow sections:

3. INSTALLATION OF PROCESS ANALYSIS SOFTWARE

3.1 Rights for setup

The simplest option to install any application of the Process Analysis Software range is to give
temporary administrative rights to the user session just for installation. Then follow the installation
procedure described in section 3.2.

In case this is not possible, generally for internal security policy, perform the following operations:

• Run the setup procedure described in section 3.2 with an administrator session.
• Run USIM PAC (or BILCO or ECHANT) in this administrator session for testing.
• Open a standard user session and run again the setup procedure.
• Choose Repair.
• Run USIM PAC (or BILCO or ECHANT).
In case of failure:

• Open the Administrator session, in which USIM PAC (or BILCO or ECHANT) has been installed.
• Run Regedit (in the Start menu, input Regedit in the Search zone).
• Display key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Caspeo\USIM PAC 3.3 English (or BILCO 3.3 English or
ECHANT 3.3 English).
• Check that the following elements are present (paths can be different); in case of differences send
a screen copy to [email protected] (similar lists for BILCO and ECHANT):

• After a right click on the “USIM PAC 3.3 English” (or “BILCO 3.3 English” or “ECHANT 3.3 English”)
key, select the Export item.
• Save the *.reg file in a public folder (reachable from any session).
• Switch back to the standard user session.
• Run the *.reg file to update the Registry of the current user session.
• Check the information in Regedit and test USIM PAC (or BILCO or ECHANT) with a normal run (not
as administrator).

3.2 Installation of application

Open the Master_CD_PAS_XXXX_English folder.

After a right click on the Setup.exe file, always select Run as Administrator.

Click on the Install button. Depending on the configuration of the Windows system, the following box
can appear to update or install some Microsoft redistributable packages.

Continue with the installation, even if the installation of a Microsoft redistributable package has failed.

After a step of initialization, the following dialog box appears:

Input the serial number and click on the OK button to validate it. If the serial number is not valid, the
installation procedure is aborted:

If the serial number is valid, a Welcome box is displayed:

Click on the Next button to display the License Agreement box:

Read the License Agreement which can be printed by clicking on the Print button. To continue the
installation, select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click on the Next button to display
the Destination Folder box:

Although it is recommended to keep the default installation folder, it can be changed by clicking on
the Change button. The final user must have the access rights on the selected folder:

Click on the Next button to display the Custom Setup box:

Only the applications, modules and additional tools you ordered are selected in the feature list
according to the serial number. It is possible to remove some applications or modules: for that, click
on the corresponding icons to display the drop-down list and select This feature will not be available.

The ECHANT, BILCO and USIM PAC applications shall be installed on the client computer. If they will
not be available on the license server, unselect them.

Click on the Next button to display the following box (depending on the Windows version, this box can
be not displayed and the installation directly starts):

Select Anyone who uses this computer (all users) to copy the files and configure the computer.

When the installation is finished, the following box is displayed:

Click on the Finish button.

Sometimes, a computer restart is required.

4. LICENSE ACTIVATION

4.1 License management checking

The status of the activation can be checked from an Internet browser.

Input the following URL: http://localhost:1947/.

In the left menu, Products allows to see the license details; Sessions displays the current session
information.

4.2 Information generation

In the Services administration tool, verify that the Sentinel LDK License Manager service is well
running. If not, start it.

Run the program RUS_CASPEO.exe on the computer where the PAS application is installed. This
program is in the \\Program Files (x86)\Caspeo \PAS English 3.3 folder.

The following box is opened:

In the first index, Collect Status Information, select Installation of new protection key, then click on
Collect Information. A Save As box is opened. Select a folder and save the *.c2v file (Client 2 Vendor).

Send the *.c2v file to [email protected] . A *.v2c (Vendor 2 Client) file will be sent back.

4.3 License application on the computer

After reception of the *.v2c file, the license can be applied on the computer. Run the RUS_CASPEO.exe
program.

Attention! The license can be applied only on the computer where the *.c2v file has been
generated.

In the second index Apply License File, click the “…” button to select and open the *.v2c file that has
been received.

Click the Apply Update button to activate the license on the computer.

4.4 License checking

The activation can be checked from an Internet browser. Input the URL: http://localhost:1947/. In the
left menu, Products item allows to see the license details; Sessions item displays the current session
information.

5. FIRST RUN ON END-USER COMPUTER

In Windows 10 or assimilated Windows versions, run the program (ECHANT, BILCO or USIM PAC) from
the Start menu in the Caspeo group. The manuals are available in the same group.

When running the program for the first time, the following box may be displayed:

Click on Ignore to run an evaluation version. The following box appears:

Click on Ok.

For USIM PAC or BILCO, select the Configuration menu, then Options… For ECHANT, select the Help
menu, then Options… The Registry Database Items of Process Analysis Software box is displayed with
the Protection section :

Verify the Type is well Sentinel soft activation. If not, select it.

On the Server line, replace most-appropriate by the IP address of the computer.

Click on Ok. Close the application and run it again. The following box appears:

Input the Company name; it will be displayed in the About box.

6. LICENSE EXTENSION AND UPGRADE

These operations are done when the license must be upgraded: new version of the software, extension
of time limited license, upgrade to new modules or features.

6.1 Information generation

Run the program RUS_CASPEO.exe on the computer where the PAS application is installed. This
program is in the \\Program Files (x86)\Caspeo \PAS English 3.3 folder.

The following box is opened:

In the first index, Collect Status Information, select Update of existing protection key, then click on
Collect Information button. A Save As box is opened. Select a folder and save the *.c2v file (Client 2
Vendor).

Send the *.c2v file to [email protected] . A *.v2c file (Vendor 2 Client) will be sent back.

6.2 License upgrade

After reception of the *.v2c file, the license can be applied on the computer. Run the RUS_CASPEO.exe
program.

In the second index Apply License File, click the “…” button to select and open the *.v2c file that has
been received:

Click the Apply Update button to upgrade the license on the computer.

6.3 License checking

The upgrade can be checked from an Internet browser. Input the URL: http://localhost:1947/. In the
left menu, Products item allows to see the license details; Sessions item displays the current session
information.

7. MOVING THE SOFT LICENSE TO ANOTHER COMPUTER

The procedure to transfer the Soft License from one computer, the source computer, to another one,
the recipient computer, is described here.

Before running this procedure, the application and license service have been installed on the recipient
computer (see section 3).

To safely transfer the license, all steps of this procedure must be done in a few hours.

7.1 Collection of information from the “recipient computer”

In the Services administration tool, verify that the Sentinel LDK License Manager service is well running
on the recipient computer. If not, start it.

Run the program RUS_CASPEO.exe on the recipient computer where the license must be transferred.
This program is in the \\Program Files (x86)\Caspeo \PAS English 3.3 folder.

In the displayed box, click the Transfer License tab:

In the top section, Collect information about the recipient computer, click the “…” button to define
the name and location (folder) of the *.id file which will be generated.

Click the Collect and Save Information button to generate the *.id file.

7.2 Generate the transfer file

In the Services administration tool, verify that the Sentinel LDK License Manager service is well running
on the source computer. If not, start it.

Copy the *.id file on the source computer where the license is currently activated. Run the program
RUS_CASPEO.exe on this computer. In the displayed box (see above), click the Transfer License tab.

In the bottom section, Generate the license transfer file, in front of Read the recipient information
file from2, click the “…” button and select the *.id file which has been previously generated on the
recipient computer.

In front of Generate the License transfer file to2, click the “…” button to define the name and location
(folder) to the *.h2h file (Host to Host) which will be generated.

Click on Generate License Transfer File to generate the *.h2h file.

Attention! Once this task is done, the license is no more available on the source computer.
Keep a copy of the “.h2h” file until you finish the transfer procedure.

7.3 Apply the transfer file

Copy the *.h2h file on the recipient computer and run the program RUS_CASPEO.exe.

In the second index Apply License File, click the “…” button to select and open the *.h2h file that has
been copied:

Click the Apply Update button to activate the license on the recipient computer.

7.4 License checking

The activation can be checked from an Internet browser. Input the URL: http://localhost:1947/. In the
left menu, Products item allows to see the license details, Sessions item displays the current session
information.
