Mid-Term Lab Assessment Task: Submitted By: Name ID Task Completed

This document outlines a mid-term lab assessment task involving signal transmission. Students are asked to generate three signals with different amplitudes and frequencies based on given parameters, show the composite signal in time and frequency domains, quantize the signal, and determine bandwidth, SNR, and maximum capacity considering noise and harmonics. The document provides instructions that the task can be completed individually or in a group, using MATLAB and submitting in PDF format with sections for cover page, code, and output snapshots.

Mid-term Lab Assessment Task

Name ID Task Completed

Parameters:
Consider, your ID = AB-CDEFG-H.
[please use any random value if assigned value comes out zero]
AMP1 = A+B AMP2 = E+F AMP3= G+H
FREQ1= BC FREQ2= DE FREQ3= FG

Put Value in the following Table:

AMP1 = AMP2 = AMP3=
FREQ1= FREQ2= FREQ3=

Problem Statement:
Suppose, you want to send information from three different sources which are using three
different signals to transmit through a transmission medium. Second and third signals are
30 degrees and 60 degree shifted from the first signal respectively and Amplitude of the
signals are AMP1, AMP2 and AMP3 respectively. Frequency of the signals are FREQ1,
FREQ2 and FREQ3 respectively.

Task 1. Show the signal which is transmitted through the medium in both time and
frequency domain in a figure titled “Input signal”. In the figure use subplot to show all
signals in time domain, composite signal in time and frequency domain. Use valid label in
x-axis & y-axis.

Task 2. Quantize the composite signal in 16 equally distributed levels and show at 2 cycle
in a new figure titled “Quantized Signal”. Use valid label in x-axis & y-axis.
Task 3. During the transmission, Signal suffered unwanted noise with amplitude of 0.2 V.
Determine the Bandwidth, SNR and max. capacity of the composite signal considering
SNR. Use meaningful parameter name.

1
Task 4. Also consider the first source produced harmonic with (4)th of the main signal
amplitude. Calculate THD, SINAD, Max. capacity of the signals considering SINAD. Use
meaningful parameter name.

Instructions:
1. Task can be submitted individually or in Group (not more than 4 person)
2. For Group Submission: You can use one of the group member ID for parameter
calculation. Anyone from the group can submit the task (no need of multiple submission)
3. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited.
4. Please use MATLAB software to accomplish the project.
5. Use this file as Cover Page.
6. In your submission file, you must add three sections: Cover page, Code, Snapshot of
Output.
7. Finally submit it in PDF format.
