Reaction Paper on Adaptive Reuse

After watching the webinar, I learned that history doesn’t come up with only what people
before had done. the houses or their shelter must be included and preserved or not
even touch. but as I watch the webinar people tend to renovate houses like, the house
doesn’t have value to people. The solution to demolition has its sustainability to people,
the environment, buildings, industries, and communities. adaptive reuse is also an
important thing as I learned in the webinar because it also maintains the cultural
heritage of a community it is also historic preservation. It also restores the cultural
significance area. The sustainability of adaptive reuse is improving the way of life for
people because it gives people their nostalgic feeling and sentimental value. The
environment also because some of the demolition jobs occur into some factory that can
ruin our environment and make nearby community put other people’s health at risk.
Buildings also, because there is a possibility that the nearby buildings may be included
in the demolition. industries also because nowadays our tourist spot is one of the main
goals that our economy is rising and it helps our country to be known in the whole wide
world. Last is communities, other elders and Filipinos may be dismayed.

After watching his explanation about San Nicolas Museum and water tanks I was
amazed by Paulina “Nana Paul” Rangcapan because she gets many awards because
of her handmade works. Also, the museum of San Nicolas is being well-preserved by
their local workers. And it’s good because President Duterte gave them an award.

As I watch the clip, Dr. Alejandro Montejo, Sr. built the house for his wife in 1930-1932.
They opened the hotel in 1997 and they gave Initial Adaptive Reuse Guidelines.
Preserve & Enhance Cultural Heritage this is a Selling point. Hotel with Contemporary
Amenities. It should be sustainable also and it’s the same as the first speaker
guidelines. Lastly is the Optimize the operational and commercial performance of built
cultural heritage assets. It is a very old house and an aesthetic design also even it is
old.

She restores 6 homes in 1800 and she is currently taking her project “A camalig
warehouse” which she will turn into an outdoor garden café and her 8th property will
remain as a storage facility. Casa Eulalia and Guiselria villa Vicencio nickname fondly
as Cassa v which was restored initially as a secondary family residence outside metro
manila. Many people want to come inside the casa v and they even not refuse because
some people came from provinces and having people souvenir and photos. They finally
open the Cassa V as an official museum and having tour guides which are their college
scholars.

They are coping with the premises then some of the furniture and fixtures are
completely fine and comfortable. Adaptive reuse is being used in late 1800.
