1.

What are my short term and long term goals?

2. Where do I see myself 10 years from now?
3. What experiences have led me to these goals?
4. What education do I need to reach your goals?
5. What impact do I want to leave on the world?

A short reflection on your thoughts in terms of your future career plans, covering at

least 3 specific employability goals and relevant steps on haow to achieve them (400-500 words).

You should draw on the content covered in the module and include goals both about personal skills

that you can improve on, but also directly employability-related ones e.g. how to improve your ‘own

brand’ via stronger social media presence (for example through LinkedIn).

- Career goals- my main goal is to be a psychologist so in order to achieve it I need to join master’s
degree in a renowned university within 2 to 3 years. Then moving forward, after completion of
my masters degree gaining work experience is the most. For this I would try to work or
volunteer at renowned medical institutions. To be able to compete in this field, I should also
come up with unique ways to promote myself.

Employability skills

- Communication
- Problem Solving
- Organization and planning

“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.”

“In order to communicate effectively we must understand that we are all distinct in the way we
perceive the world”. For me, this quote is the reminder of the blunders that I made in the past.
While my job was to lead a team, I failed to empathize and understand my members which in
turn left them de-motivated and therefore none of them stepped up their plate. So, in the journey
to strengthen my long lost communication skills, I definitely see myself doing the volunteering
jobs in the future where I would get ample opportunities to interact, comprehend and empathize
with people. Also, aspiring to be a psychologist, I have decided to complete my masters in Kings
College London, where plentiful opportunities for public speaking and debate competitions will
knock my door, which definitely will help me in honing my communication skills.

Furthermore, one of the executive functions namely, problem solving is the other soft skills that I
want to polish off in the future for there have been an instance where my inadequacy to come
up with solutions at the right time has almost had me perform badly in an important presentation
at my job. Hence, as my first approach in the upcoming days, I will participate in meditation
courses in order to learn some practices that will help me keep my cool even in the most
stressful situation so that I won’t panic and can come up with solutions more effectively. Also,
actively partaking in research projects and engaging in brainstorming discussions during my
remaining days in the university should help me become a competent problem solver. All in all,
becoming a problem solver will definitely prove to be an asset for my career as I will be able to
avoid uncertainty and mistakes, costly during any given situation.

Equally important for me is the organization and planning skills which helps to optimize the
workflow which in turn will save my time, money and effort. As I am working as a LOM Editor in
JCI Patan Lady, managing both work and study simultaneously has always been a hectic task,
so, learning these skills shall benefit me for coming up with a precise schedule to handle
student and professional life concomitantly both in the short and long run. For acquiring this
skill, I would definitely be grasping any thrown opportunities to host and organize events by JCI
Patan Lady which should give me sufficient experience and knowledge about managing time,
identifying tasks and managing them, creating schedules and finishing off work on time.

Concluding, acquiring all of these cognitive skills according to the hereinbefore stated plans
shall set me apart from other work seekers and competitors and also will bring me a step closer
to my main goal i.e. to be a renowned psychologist.

Problemsolving skills can set you apart from other work seekers because they can help sustain
an efficient organizational process for your prospective employer and accomplish goals more eff
iciently.

Organization and planning

All of these cognitive skills are very essential

as I aspire to be a psychologist in the near and dear future

For me “Communication” skills is the

Communication When done right will

I realized that the empathized communication, which I lacked, helps to increase reliability and
fair division of labor; among team members.

With improved communication, team members will be better able to rely on each other. You will
not have one team member feel as though they have to carry the entire group. This improved
division of labor will encourage positive feelings and relationships between the team members,
which leads to improved morale and work experiences.
