METHODOLOGY

Research Methodology

This chapter contains the methods undertaken to achieve the primal target of the study

which is to know whether the factors affecting the academic performance of the students is

negative or positive. This study used quantitative approach in order to get valid information and

reliable results about the factors affecting the academic performance of the Senior High School

Students of Tabango Senior High School Stand-Alone.

Research Design

The researcher chooses the Descriptive Research Design as its fits perfectly in the study

conducted which is its primal target is to know the factors affecting the academic performance of

the Senior High School Students of Tabango Senior High School Stand-Alone. This design used

will give the data needed in order to attain the main objective of the research. This design survey

questionnaires which were distributed to the respondents in order to attain the main objective of

the study which is to determine the factors affecting the academic performance of the Senior

High School Students of Tabango Senior High School Stand-Alone.

Respondents and Locale

The study conducted at Tabango Senior High School in which the target respondents of

this study are the Grade 11 and Grade12 students. Researcher will identify the factors that may

affect the academic performance of the students, its positive and negative effect to their study by

conducting a survey.

Respondents that are involved in this study are the students of Tabango Senior High

School -Stand Alone with a total population of 463 respondents during the school year of 2019-

2020. The respondents were identified using Slovins Formula: , where n is the sample

size, N is the population size, and e is the margin of error. Then, it undergo stratified random

sampling to determine how many respondents that should the researcher target to conduct the

study.

Research Instrument

This study will be conducted, following all mentioned methods. Survey questionnaires

will be use in gathering data. This instrument gave researchers the platform to ask close ended

questions about the factors affecting the academic performance of the respondents.

Data Collection
the study will be conducted in Tabango Senior High School in which the respondents will

ask permission from the School Head, Mr. Antonio B. Dacatimbang Jr. with the permission,

researchers will be able to personally disseminate the survey questionnaires to the target

respondents.

Data Analysis

The gathered data from the respondents were collected, analyzed and interpreted to

answer the questions in the study and to test the hypothesis.

Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used to test the significance difference on the

factors affecting the academic performance of the respondents when grouped according to the

profile variables, and the factors affecting the academic performance.

Likert Scale Questionnaires will be use to collect data. To interpret the data, the

following classification will be applied:
