Lesson Plan in Math

This document outlines a learning plan for a Grade 7 Mathematics lesson on finding the mean of ungrouped data. The lesson will begin with exploring the concept of mean through a video clip. Students will then learn how to calculate the mean of ungrouped data using the formula. Examples will be worked through and students will complete exercises to practice calculating means of various data sets. An online quiz and homework assignment on finding additional means will be used to evaluate student understanding. The goal is for students to understand and apply how to find means of ungrouped data to solve real-world problems.

STANDARDS:
 Content Standard
The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of Mean of Ungrouped
Data.
 Performance Standard
The learner is able to collect and organize data systematically and compute
accurately measures central of tendency in solving real-life problems involving Mean of
Ungrouped Data.

(A) LEARNING COMPETENCIES:

At the end of the lesson the learner will be able to solve mean ungrouped data and apply in
real – life situation.

(M) ENDURING UNDERSTANDING:

Students will understand that the knowledge of Mean of Ungrouped Data are useful in
solving real-life problems.

ESSENTIAL QUESTION:
How can the knowledge of Mean of Ungrouped Data help us solve real-life problems?

(T) TRANSFER GOAL:

Students on their own will be able to collect and organize data systematically and compute
accurately measures central of tendency in solving real-life problems involving Mean of
Ungrouped Data.
LESSON OUTLINE:
1. Procedures (EFDT):
 Explore
 Firm-up
 Deepen
 Transfer
2. Evaluation
3. Closure

EXPLORE
The teacher will play a video clip involving mean.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=5C9LBF3b65s&feature=share

FIRM-UP
After playing a video clip the teacher will ask the students.

What have you observed at the video?

DEEPEN
The teacher will discuss the lesson about “Mean of Ungrouped Data”.

Ungrouped data is data given as individual data points.

Mean – is defined as the arithmetic average of all the scores or groups of scores in a distribution.

CONCEPT:

 To find the mean of an ungrouped data, use the formula:

x̄ = ∑ x
n

Where:
x̄ = mean
∑ x = sum of the item values
n = number of cases

Ex. The grades in Mathematics of 10 students are 82, 85, 79, 78, 89, 87, 88, 89, 75, 77. What is
the average grade?

Mean (x̄) = 83 + 86 + 80 + 79 + 90 + 88 + 89 + 90 + 76 + 78
10
Mean (x̄) = 839
10

Mean (x̄) = 83.9 or 84

TRANSFER (20 minutes)
The teacher will ask the learners to answer the Exercises A below.

EXERCISE A

Instruction: Find the mean of the following:
