If YES:
Go to Step 7 [p. 3-13].
If NO:
Go to Step 4 [p. 3-12].
4 Edit the TARP parameters. This command is used to enable or disable the protocol data unit
(PDU) (types 1 through 5E) and to set the values of the response timers (types 1 and 2).
INIT-OIF:TID::CTAG; > NE
7 If needed, manually test the reachability of the NE. Consider the following when performing
this step:
■ An asynchronous event report (REPT EVT COM) is issued when a response is
received from the remote node or when no response is received from the remote NE
within the time specified by the TEFTIMER.
■ The maximum value of TEFTIMER is 85 seconds.
■ Only one DTID, SYSID, NET, and REQWORKADDR is allowed for one TL1
command.
■ If the TARP echo function (TEF) response is negative, the system stops TEF
operation, and both TTIMES and TEFTIMER are ignored.
REQWORKADDR:

If YES:
Go to Section 3.2.3, Provisioning Network Layer Protocol (OSI Routing) [p. 3-14].
If NO:
Go to Step 9 [p. 3-14].
The NLP, by default, is set to NULL, which enables the area address capture feature on the
FLASHWAVE® 4010. The area address capture feature adopts the area address on the
adjacent SONET NE during power-cycle boot-up and records that value in the NE
provisioning database as the area address (AREAADDR).
Step Task
1 Retrieve the parameters from the NE, and then compare the values with Table 3-4 [p. 3-15]
to verify that the AREAADDR is set to the default value of NULL.
Domain
Keyword Description
(Default in Bold)
Note: An AREAADDR value of NULL enables the automatic area address capture feature. This can be set
manually to a specific AREAADDR value.
If YES:
Go to Step 18 [p. 3-22].
If NO:
Go to Step 3 [p. 3-16].
3 Provision the NLP parameters as necessary. This command edits the attributes associated with
the NE role in the OSI network layer routing domain. Consider the following when
performing this command:
■
If the area address is provisioned NULL, the NE activates the area address
(AREAADDR) capture upon the execution of the INIT-OIF TL1 command. The
time to capture the adjacent NE area address, after the INIT-OIF TL1 command has
been executed, may be as long as 1 minute.
■ Provisioning a value into the area address requires that the ED-NLP command be
specified with the AREAADDR keyword set to NULL as shown in the following
example:
Example: ED-NLP:FUJITSU::CTAG::ES:AREAADDR=NULL;
■ When AREAADDR=NULL on both FLASHWAVE 4010s in a point-to-point
(FLASHWAVE 4010-to-FLASHWAVE 4010) configuration, the automatic area
address capture does not work. The NLP parameter must be edited using the ED-NLP
TL1 command.
Note: An AREAADDR value of NULL only supports OSI operating as an End System (ES) and
SYSMODE=TERM.
■ After the area address capture is activated, the NE adopts the area address of the
adjacent SONET NE and records the value in the provisioning database as the value of
the area address.
■
Once the area address procedure adopts a new area address, the appropriate database
change message is generated.
■ The adoption of the area address does not disturb a TL1 command session over the
LMP or RS-232 port when only logged on the local NE.
■ If the adopted area address matches the most recently provisioned (or captured)
non-null area address, the NE does not disturb any TL1 command session over the
SDCC, LAN management port (LMP), or RS-232 communication interfaces.
CAUTION:
Changes made to the NLP affect all interfaces to the NE.
INIT-OIF:TID::CTAG; > NE
6 If the NLP type is provisioned as IS1 (for UPSR), go to Step 7 [p. 3-18].
OR
If the NLP type is provisioned as ES (for end systems), go to Step 17 [p. 3-22].
If YES:
Go to Step 12 [p. 3-20].
If NO:
Go to Step 9 [p. 3-19].
9 Provision the maximum number of area addresses supported in the IS1 routing protocol.

If YES:
Go to Step 17 [p. 3-22].
If NO:
Go to Step 14 [p. 3-21].
Note: The NLP MAA is used in combining multiple areas or breaking one area into multiple areas. A
maximum of 12 area addresses (AREAADDR) can be provisioned. If the same AREAADDR is entered twice,
the command is denied.

Close the IP setting screen.
Prerequisites:
■ The list of IP hosts is defined as those IP addresses that are allowed access to the NE.
■ Entries are added to the list by specifying an index and the associated IP address.
■ An IP address can be removed from the list by invoking this command with an
appropriate AID value and a null IPADDR value of 0.0.0.0.
■ If the AID value is ALL and the IPADDR is 0.0.0.0, the list becomes empty; therefore,
there is no restriction on which IP hosts can communicate with the NEs. If the AID
value is 1 and the IPADDR is 0.0.0.0, host entry number 1 is removed.
Example: ED-IP-ACCESS::FUJITSU:ALL::0.0.0.0;
Example: ED-IP-ACCESS::FUJITSU:1::0.0.0.0;
■ A maximum of ten IP addresses are allowed in the list.
Note: Default values are shown in bold.
Step Task
1 Verify that the craft interface cable is connected to the NE. If needed, refer to
FNC-645-0021-270, Installation and Turn-Up, Chapter 2.
Note: The TID, UID, and PID values shown apply to initialized (factory default) systems. Consult your
Network System Administrator for specific TID, UID, and PID values.
3 Retrieve the current list of IP hosts that can communicate with the NE. AN IP host of 0.0.0.0
is the default value that disables this feature.
Note: Refer to the prerequisites at the beginning of the procedure for provisioning preconditions.

5.1 Overview
This chapter lists the procedures for operating and releasing an OC-3 or synchronization
protection switch. Protection switching is only applicable to protected (1+1) REM1-C702
and REM1-C032 configurations.
For more detailed information regarding TL1 commands, refer to FNC-645-0021-274, TL1
Commands.
Manual, forced, and lockout protection switching are three switching methods available on
the FLASHWAVE 4010 for REM1-C702 and REM1-C032 configurations. These methods
are used to switch traffic away from the specified facility for testing or maintenance purposes.
A protection switch is initiated using the OPR-PROTNSW-VT1, OPR-PROTNSW-STS1,
and OPR-PROTNSW-OC3 commands and released using the RLS-PROTNSW-VT1,
RLS-PROTNSW-OC3, and RLS-PROTNSW-STS1 commands.
To perform a manual switch, the standby facility (VT1.5, STS-1, or OC-3) must be fault-free.
The manual switch may be denied if there is an alarm on the standby facility. Therefore,
alarms and conditions must be checked on the standby facility before performing a manual
switch.
A manual switch can also be used to transfer a specified facility back from the standby facility
to the working facility.
Note: A manual protection switch in nonrevertive mode does not require release. It is a transient
condition and hence does not require any release.
When performing a lockout, the specified entity is locked out from carrying traffic. Lockout
is associated with the present status of the entity specified in the protection switch TL1
command. Lockout is only applicable for an OC-3 facility AID value of 2-1.
LOCKOUT is a standing condition (SC) in both revertive and nonrevertive modes. Table 5-1
[p. 5-3] lists the default and current status of the entity, and the resulting function provided
by the LOCKOUT keyword. A lockout switch is released using the RLS-PROTNSW-OC3
command.

For more detailed information regarding TL1 commands, refer to FNC-645-0021-274, TL1
Commands.
Note: UPSR upgrade procedures are applicable to configurations REM1-C702 and REM1-C032
configurations running Release 2.1 software.
WARNING:
Migrating from TERM to UPSR using the keyword SYSMODE=UPSR-IS is non–
service-affecting. However, if the keyword SYSMODE=UPSR is used, then this procedure is
service-affecting because all VT1.5/STS-1 cross-connects are deleted and all traffic is
dropped.
When the configuration is changed to UPSR-IS, the NE automatically performs the following
steps:
■ Retains all VT1.5/STS-1 cross-connects
■ Changes the OSI routing state from ES (default) to IS1
■ Deletes the OC-3 FFP group
■ Creates the SDCC on the protect OC-3 optics (2-1)
■ Initializes the communication stack (INIT-OIF)
Prerequisites:
■ Verify the connection of the RS-232 craft interface cable or the RJ-45 LMP craft
interface cable. If needed, refer to Section 2.5.6, subsection Installing RS-232 Craft
Interface Cable and Setting Up Craft Terminal (Serial) [p. 2-40], or Section 2.5.7,
subsection Installing RJ-45 LMP Craft Interface Cable and Setting Up Craft Terminal
(Telnet) [p. 2-43].
■ Verify that the OC-3 facilities on the NE are not OOS:MA,MT state.
Note: Default values are shown in bold.
Step Task
1 Log on the NE.
Note: The user ID and password defaults are ROOT/ROOT. For security reasons, create a new user ID and
password. Refer to FNC-645-0021-272, System Operations, Section 2.2, Provisioning User Security
Management [p. 2-2], for user-security provisioning.
Note: The TID, UID, and PID values used in these procedures are factory default values. Consult your
Network System Administrator for specific TID, UID, and PID values.
If YES:
Clear all active alarms before continuing with this procedure. If needed, refer to
FNC-645-0021-480, Maintenance and Trouble Clearing, Chapter 2, Responding to Alarms

If NO:
Go to Step 12 [p. 6-8].
12 Perform a manual protection switch of traffic away from the protect OC-3 (2-1).
CAUTION:
During this step, the NE creates the SDCC on the protect OC-3 optics and initializes the
communication stack. As a result, a momentary loss of communication to the shelf will
occur if the user is logged on through the LMP or SDCC. The user will be required to log on
again once initialization is complete.
Note: UPSR is only applicable to configurations REM1-702 (FC9688C702) and REM1-CO32 (FC9688C032).
Before initiating this step, confirm your configuration.

To restore FLASHWAVE 4010 factory defaults, the user must perform the remote memory
backup (RMBU) procedure to first obtain a memory backup of a FLASHWAVE 4010
known to contain factory default settings. The remote memory backup and restore
(RMBU/R) procedures are performed using NETSMART 500 or NETSMART 1500 (refer
to FNC-645-0021-120, System Description and Engineering, Section 4.15 [p. 4-29]).
After a memory backup of factory settings is obtained, the memory restore procedures can be
performed to place these settings into the FLASHWAVE 4010 using the RS-232 craft
interface or the LMP port. To ensure factory default settings following a power down,
disconnect all DS1, DS3, and OC-3 connections before performing a restore.
