X2Go Guidance for IVC Lab

• Download X2Go https://wiki.x2go.org/doku.php

• Open X2Go
• Click under Session on New Session or press Crtl + N
• Then, this window should open:

• For Session name, enter every name you want

• For Host, enter lms41-XX.e-technik.uni-erlangen.de
• The XX is the number corresponding to the computer you will get assigned to in the first lab
course session.
• For login, enter the username mmkgrpXX you will also get in the first lab course
• For Session type, choose MATE instead of KDE
• Finally, click on OK
• You do not have to set anything else here
• Afterwards, you can see that we successfully created an “IVC Lab Course” session
• In this example this was for the account mmkgrp1 and the lab computer lms41-31. However, it
is important that you only use the account and the computer we assigned to you, so make sure
that you use the correct credentials here.

• You can select here another preferred Resolution. You can also use fullscreen, but we made the
experience that this might not work properly. Of course, increasing the resolution usually results
in more comfortable working experience, however, it might not be beneficial when your own
laptop or your internet connection are not capable for doing that.
• Click on the gray box
• Enter the correct Password and click on ok.
• Click on Yes to trust the key

• Now, you should be able to see the Desktop on the remote lab course computer
• When you have finished your lab session, please log out your account

• Afterwards, the session automatically closes.
