GATE 2011 Pattern: Each Paper Contains 65 Questions Carrying 100 Marks

The GATE 2011 exam paper contains 65 questions worth 100 marks. Questions 1-25 are worth 1 mark each, questions 26-55 are worth 2 marks each, and the remaining questions are also worth either 1 or 2 marks depending on the section. Some questions are part of linked pairs, where the answer to the second question depends on the first question - in these cases there is only negative marking for an incorrect answer to the first question. Across papers, the marking scheme and patterns of 1-mark and 2-mark questions varies between sections, but maintains an overall structure of splitting questions into groups worth either 1 or 2 marks each.
