Reflection Assignment - GNED-1132
Reflection Assignment - GNED-1132
In regard to timeliness and completeness of class participation there were many aspects to
be covered and followed. I have completed all of the required course content to my full potential,
by reading and watching all of the content and not just clicking the content to open it. This is
supported by the content quizzes that were completed each week, I achieved a grade of 80% for
each quiz which I may say is not possible if I were to have just clicked the content to open it.
One thing that I may say I lacked on was the time spent completing the course content. The
expected time to complete the course material each week takes about 2 1/2-3 hours, yet I have
not taken that time each week when completing the course content. I am well below the expected
time in the course, and I have come up with ways to improve this for next time. I have noticed
that I take a look at the class content at the end of the week rather than the beginning, giving me
less time to complete the discussion board and the quizzes. This causes me to rush through the
content without reflecting appropriately after each section of the content. For the second half of
the course I will most definitely start my work for the course in the beginning of the week or
right when the content opens up. For the practise activities within the content every week, I have
completed all but the first week’s activities. This was because I had undergone a knee
reconstruction surgery the second week (September 14th) and was unable to look through any
course work. This is also why I was able to complete all the discussion board postings except for
the week 2 discussion. When it came to the discussion board, only one peer had made a comment
to my post, but it was too late for me to respond to, but this was also because I had posted later in
the posting period as well. Another one of the things I need to work on for the second half of the

course is make my discussion posts earlier on the posting period giving me and my peers more
time to respond and have a back and forth conversation in order to create a better discussion.
B) Posting Content
from the content we have learned in the previous weeks. I used content I learned in the course in
my posts, replies and my activities to create a more well-informed response for my peers to start
a discussion. The knowledge I learned from the content is what drove all of my responses and
questions I’ve asked my peers. I have made sure to understand the course content rather than
memorizing the content. I gained this understanding by thinking about it, evaluating it and
questioning it and used this for each of my discussion board posts. Whenever I gave a response
to a peer, I always followed the 3CQ model and asked questions that would have the peer think
and reflect on the topic. I believe that my postings would help to build an online community and
C) Self-Evaluation
When it comes to course participation, I feel like I did well on my posts. I used personal
connections and demonstrated a great comprehension of the course material. The discussions and
the course activities helped me in getting a better understanding of the course material. It gave
me an opportunity to really think about the content and reflect on it on a personal and community
level. The activities made me connect my thoughts to world thoughts and created a greater
connection with my peers creating a community. The only difficulty I had was trying to catch up
with the course material when I was on bed rest from my surgery, unable to focus or attend to the
material in time. I fell into the habit of attending to the work later on in the posting period. I

know I can improve on my participation by attending to the course material earlier, as early as
the date the content opens. I also have learned to subscribe to the discussion posts recently, this
will help me stay connected with the discussion boards and be reminder to read and respond. I
learned that I do indeed learn better and get a better understanding when I am more hands on
with course material such as making postings and completing class activities. I have also learned
that I have room to learn and grow, I have a passion for reading and have been reading several
self-help books, but the course has taught me a lot that I didn’t learn from the books I’ve read.
The course connects to the world and uses facts and statistics which make me much more
comfortable with the material. Lastly, I learned that by participating in class well enough I will
be able to introduce the new concepts I’ve learned to my fellow peers inside and outside of class
as well. I learned that I was better able to comprehend the content through participation, it helped
us students learn from each other. Happiness is not simple to achieve, I learned that we have a
set-point which was given to us through are genetics and doesn’t change. We need to put in work
and time to achieve more enlighten (happiness). This all connects to biology as well, happiness
can start with changing our physical lifestyle, things like exercising more and developing our
Vagus Nerve, which was a new concept to me as well. When I studied happiness on my own I
learned that we can start achieving happiness by practising gratitude, being more mindful and
less judgmental. I learned about how our mind and ego play a role in being an obstacle to
achieving happiness. But this course has taught me in-depth research-based reasoning and
believe that this post is one of the best conversations I have had with a peer. Even though I didn’t
get a chance to respond back I saw a connection and a conversation being built. In this post I
was able to connect to Musleema by sharing how we are alike in the matter and asking a question
to get a deep understanding of how she feels about what that particular change can do for her
happiness. The question allowed her to open up more and give more real-life examples of how
stepping out of our comfort zones and socializing more will build a community and make not
just us happy but everyone around us happy. This shined a light for me and for Musleema,
course content such as spending on materialistic things for happiness (taught as what our era sees
happiness as) and connected back to the learning of long-lasting memories and short-lived
memories. I feel like the connections I’ve made with the content demonstrates my
comprehension of the course content well. Also, this post incorporated many personal
connections, I drew into how I look at money and examples of where and when I need and use
money. I feel that these personal examples gave my peers an opportunity to look into their lives
and see what they’ve used their money for in terms of creating long-lasting memories. Thus,
If I were to assign myself a grade based on the grading criteria outlined in the reflection
assignment instructions, I feel that I deserve a “B”. This is because I have completed much of the
related course content in somewhat of a timely manner and as shown on DC connect through the
quizzes I’ve completed and grades I’ve received. Also demonstrated through the content I
completed, and I have read 18 posts in hopes to get the insight of other peers. In terms, of
completing the content, activities and discussion board postings I have reached out and made the
professor aware of my situation. I did although complete the work to the best of my ability, by
participating in the discussion boards and using proficient information in the posts. I made
connections to previous and current content as well as to my real-life situations in each post I
made. I feel that I did deliver information that showed some thought, insight and analysis with
the posts above as examples. The paddle posts were sometimes completed during the week.
Overall, I feel that my online activity does indicate a fair to good comprehension of the course
material.
