Outline English

This document outlines an assignment to analyze whether home-schooling has more advantages than disadvantages for children. The outline includes an introduction noting that home-schooling allows for more personalized learning and time with family. It then discusses two key advantages: more personalized one-on-one learning and spending more time with family. The outline also addresses two potential disadvantages - the time commitment required of parents and limited extracurricular opportunities - and argues they can be overcome. The conclusion is that home-schooling has advantages that outweigh disadvantages if parents have sufficient financial support.

Topic
Does home-schooling have a lot of advantages than disadvantages for the children?
1) Introduction
a) Hook - Home-schooling is a growing trend around the world where the parents
educate their children at home instead of sending them to a public or private school.
b) Background Information - Some experts believe that it is better for children to have
home-schooling instead of sending them to public or private school.
c) Thesis Statement - Although they are many arguments on home-schooling, the
advantages of home-schooling are actually outweighing the disadvantages of home-
schooling because the disadvantages can easily be overcome if the parents have a
good financial support.
d) Outline - This article will discuss both advantages and also disadvantages of home-
schooling and conclude is it actually good for the parents to practice home-schooling
for their children.

2) Developing Your Argument

a) Claim 1 (It provides more personalized one-on-one learning opportunities for the
children)
1. Evidence
Affords parents and instructors the flexibility to change the approach or adjust
teaching methods if something isn’t working for the student. In this sense,
students won’t be left behind if a particular lesson plan or activity isn’t connecting
with them. (Werrel, 2018)
2. Evidence
Nearly every type of home-schooling approach yields very small class sizes, and
research has shown that both smaller class size and school size associated with
higher levels of scholastic success. (Feldmon, Lopez, & Simon, 2006; Jeynes,
2012)

1
b) Claim 2 (It allows the children to spend more time with the family)
1. Evidence
Parents, particularly the mothers are generally expected to fully devote their time
to every aspect of a child’s development, including the emotional, moral, social,
intellectual and physical levels (Brown and Small 1997; Vincent 2017; Vincent
and Warren, 1998).
2. Evidence
It can prevent the generational gap between children and their parents, build
healthy relationships among siblings and establishes a nurturing family
environment. Example allows families to knit together strong bonds, including
successful marriages (Farris & Woodruff, 2000; Mayberry, 1993; Webb, 1989).

3) Refuting Opponents’ Arguements

a) Opposing view 1 (It requires a major time commitment for the parents)
1. Refutation
Most of the parents that wants to do home-schooling realise that it requires time
commitment and they all willing to do so. It is not an issue for the parents at all
regarding the time and to be honest proper home schooling does not consume
much time.
b) Opposing view 2 (it limits the child’s opportunities to participate in team sports,
competitions and other extra-curricular activities)
1. Refutation
The parents can send them to personal coaching for the sports, they will have
involvement with other trainees under the same coach.
They are competition and other extra-curricular activities being held by other
organization where the parents can send them there to participate.

4) Conclusion

a) The discussion of does home-schooling have a lot of advantages than disadvantages

for the children can be seen clearly.
b) We can see that home-schooling is actually very good for the children but they are
some disadvantages of home-schooling that we can’t denied but it can be fixed or
overcome. If it cannot be overcome by the parents, the home-schooling will not work

2
or benefit the children at all and it can bring too much harm mentally to the children
too.
