DEVELOPMENT (D)
A polygon is a union of non-collinear segments, the sides, on a plane that meet at their endpoints,
the vertices, so that each endpoint (vertex) is contained by exactly two segments(sides). The angles
on the inside of a polygon formed by each pair of adjacent sides. A diagonal is a segment joining
non-consecutive vertices. Interior angle is the inside angle of a polygon formed by two adjacent
sides. Exterior angle is the angle formed when one side of a polygon is extended ( adjacent to an
interior angle)

A polygon separates a plane into three sets of points: the polygon itself, points in the interior (inside)
of the polygon, and points in the exterior (outside) of the polygon.
Polygons are classified as convex or non convex. A polygon is convex if all segments joining any
two points of the polygon lie completely inside the polygon, otherwise the polygon is concave

THURSDAY SCIENCE The Learner… Introduction
7:00 – 8:00 Infer that waves carry energy. Waves occur all around you in the physical world. When you throw a stone
into a lake, water waves spread out from the splash. When you strum the
strings of a guitar, sound waves carry the noise all around you. In this lesson,
we will explore on how waves carry energy from one place to another and
distinguish between transverse and longitudinal waves.
8:00 – 9:00 SCIENCE Development
Wave is a disturbance that travels through space and time, usually
accompanied by the transfer of energy. Sound waves, earthquake waves,
waves from the stretched strings, and water waves are all produced by some
source of vibration.
Parts of a wave
Crest -each high point of a wave
Trough -each low point
Wavelength- distance between points where the wave pattern
repeats itself
Amplitude -any periodic motion, the maximum distance an
object moves from equilibrium

Types of Waves
Mechanical waves - waves that require a medium( like water and air)
to travel through such as longitudinal and transverse waves.
Examples: ocean waves and earthquakes, water waves, sound
waves, ropes and springs, tsunami waves
Electromagnetic waves – do not require a medium to travel through
and consists of moving electric and magnetic fields travelling
outward toward the speed of light.
Examples: light, microwaves, radio waves, infrared, X- rays,
ultraviolet rays
Both can transmit energy but not matter.
