SWOT ANALYSIS:

STRENGTHS:

 Our mission to give students an outlet to share their mental health concerns that is

different than what already exists is very unique and will help us promote the campaign.

Because we hope to use a chat-bot system with animity, students will be more inclined to

want to take part and not ignore our services.

 Because we are college students and our target audience is the same age as us, according

to the interpersonal context, we believe that students will be more inclined to want to

support our campaign and take part. Along with this, students are high self-monitors and

we believe that this will work out in our favor as they desire to be a part of the cause and

form to the goals of the group.

 On our team, we all cohesively agree that we have struggled with mental health at some

point or are currently experiencing it. This will give us credibility to students on campus

who are unsure whether they should trust us, as we are well aware of the effects mental

health has on oneself. When we are not able to help in certain situations, we will have a

partnership with nurses on campus who can respond.

 WEAKNESSES:

 One weakness within our campaign that we have found is that our campaign is slowly

growing bigger. It could eventually lead to us biting off more than we can chew and not

being able to do everything that we are trying to achieve with our campaign that we want

by the end of the semester.

 There could be people that view our campaign and think that what we are trying to do is

out of our reach. We as a group are not professionals, and therefore people could

potentially view our campaign as something not as serious as we are hoping.

OPPORTUNITIES:

 As a team, we have been exploring avenues to partner either with Active Minds as well

as counselors at the Wellness Center. This will give us access to professionals on campus

that can be reached quickly if need be.

 If the campaign has a positive impact and outcome, the campaign and it’s goals have the

possibility to keep growing and continue to help the Northwest community because we

will be using a chat-bot that gives students quicker access than what already exists on

campus.

 Another long term effect we hope our campaign will one day reach is beginning the

process of stopping the stigma around mental health. Reaching out to counselors and

getting help will be normal, and students will not feel ashamed for needing help.

THREATS:

 Liability is the most dangerous part to this campaign. Failure to report any signs that

someone is feeling suicidal may lead to university or criminal consequences.

 Not receiving feedback that we request from NW students may interfere with our study

by not giving us material to measure and improve.

 Internally, this campaign can put a lot of stress on the group members which can affect

our mental health.
