DTC Descriptors

DTC P0263 00: Cylinder 1 Injector Control Circuit Performance

DTC P0266 00: Cylinder 2 Injector Control Circuit Performance

DTC P0269 00: Cylinder 3 Injector Control Circuit Performance

DTC P0272 00: Cylinder 4 Injector Control Circuit Power

Circuit / System Description

To ensure smooth idling, the ECM can increase and decrease the amount of fuel delivered to each cylinder. The ECM monitors the amount of fuel needed to balance each cylinder.

Conditions for Running the DTC

• The engine is running.

• The DTCs run continuously if the above conditions are met.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The ECM detects if the amount of fuel required to balance the system is below or above a calibrated quantity.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

DTC P0263, P0266, P0269 and P0272 are Type C DTCs.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

DTC P0263, P0266, P0269 and P0272 are Type C DTCs.

Diagnostic Aids

• If the vehicle is operated in a wide range of temperatures, it can also help identify the fuel injector causing the problem.
• Carry out the fuel injector winding test under the conditions described by the customer. The fuel injector problem may only occur at a certain temperature or under certain conditions.

Circuit / System Verification

1. Ignition ON, observe the DTC information with the scan tool. Make sure no error code is set.
⇒ If any other DTCs are set, see DTC List - Vehicle for further diagnosis .
2. With the engine running, observe the DTC information with the scan tool. DTC P0263, P0266, P0269, and P0272 must not be activated.
3. Operate the vehicle under conditions that can be used to run the DTC and verify that the DTC does not return. You can also operate the vehicle between frozen data / error values.

Circuit / System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, check for:

• Low compression pressure
• Mechanical condition affecting the engine
• Twisted or bent injection lines
• Injection nozzle malfunction
⇒ If you have a problem, repair it as needed.
2. If all components test normal, replace the fuel injection pump.
