PROBLEM 1: Consider a voltage amplifier with an open loop gain AVo= 10 connected to a real

voltage source with an internal resistance, RS, and a load, RL, as it is shown in the figure. Obtain
the total voltage gain Vo/Vs, for the following cases:

a) Ri=10Rs and RL=10Ro


b) Ri=Rs and RL=Ro
c) Ri=Rs/10 and RL=Ro/10

PROBLEM 2: A designer has available several voltage amplifiers with an input impedance (Ri
=10KΩ), an output impedance (Ro= 1KΩ) and an open loop gain AVo= 10. The input source is a
real one that provides a sine signal with an amplitude of VS=10mV and has an internal resistance
RS = 10KΩ. It is required that the amplifier provides at least a signal of 2V of amplitude (Vo) to
supply a load of 1KΩ (RL). How many amplifiers are needed connect in cascade to obtain this
output voltage?

PROBLEM 3: The circuit shows in figure is an amplifier with three stages connected in cascade.
The amplifier is connected to a voltage source with an internal impedance RS = 100KΩ and a load
RL =100Ω. Obtain the voltage gain VL/VS.

PROBLEM 4: An amplifier has a differential gain AD=50.000. If the inputs terminals are
interconnected and a signal of 1V is applied, the output voltage is 0.1V. What are the common-
mode gain and the CMRR, in dB?

PROBLEM 5: A differential amplifier presents an output Vo=A1Vi1-A2Vi2.

a) Considering Vi1=1/2V and Vi2=-1/2V. Determine ViD, ViC, Vo and AD.


b) Considering the values Vi1=1V and Vi2=1V. Determine ViD, ViC, Vo and AC.
c) Using the results obtained in (a) and (b) to state CMRR. Determine CMRR if A1=100
and A2=101.

PROBLEM 6: Draw the simplified Thevenin model of a voltage amplifier with ando open loop
gain Avo = 2. Indicate the values of the parameters of this model if it is considered an ideal
amplifier. Considering this ideal model and connecting a sine input source (VS) with an internal
impedance (RS) and a load (RL), obtain and explain the output for the following cases:

a) VS= 3 Vpp, RS=50 Ω, Ri= 4 kΩ, Ro=70 Ω, RL= 50k Ω.


b) VS= 3 Vpp, RS=500 Ω, Ri= 3 kΩ, Ro=70 Ω, RL= 50 k Ω.
c) VS= 3 Vpp, RS=50 Ω, Ri= 4 kΩ, Ro=70 Ω, RL= 50 Ω.
