6. A (6, 4), B ( 4, 2) and C (1, 5) , are three points.

(a) Write a (2 × 2) matrix, M, which represent a reflection of the three points

in the line y = x . (1 mark)

(b) Using the matrix, M, determine the coordinates of A ' , B' and C ' , the
images of A, B and C. (2 marks)

(c) Write a (2 × 2) matrix, N, which represents a rotation of 180° about the origin.(2 marks)

(d) State the coordinates of A ' ' , B' ' and C' ' , the images of A, B and C under the
transformation N. (2 marks)

The transformation matrix L is made up of a reflection in the line y = x followed by a rotation

of 180° about the origin.
(e) Using graph paper, plot the points A, B and C given in line 1 above and the points
A ' ' ' , B' ' ' and C ' ' ' the images of A, B and C under the transformation L. (5 marks)

(f) State the transformation L as a 2 × 2 matrix. (2 marks)

(g) State the coordinates of the invariant point under the transformation L. (1 mark)
