! Ensure the Receiver Unit is securely mounted in the
vehicle before connecting to power and that no
cables or antennas are attached to the Receiver Unit
while it is being mounted.
1. Select a location to mount the Receiver Unit. Choose a
location that is easy to access and can accommodate
cable and antenna connections to the Receiver.

the Display Unit will not be able to enter standby
mode during ignition-off periods. You will not be able
to identify vehicle ignition cycles from the datalog.
5. Connect the black (constant) wire from the power cord
to the constant wire in the vehicle’s electrical panel.
Alternatively, the constant wire from the power cord can
also be connected to the ignition wire in the vehicle’s
electrical panel.
The Receiver Unit has an internal battery for memory
backup and therefore does not require continuous
power to the constant wire. In the absence of direct
power to the constant wire, the internal battery retains
all data and settings.
!
Ensure that you have not connected the black wire to
the fire suppression system or any other safety system.
6. Optional step: the switch wire can be connected to an
external device. For example, you can run a 24V through
a warning light and resistor into switch contact A; then
connect switch contact B to the ground wire in the
vehicle’s electrical panel.
!
If the red and white wires are to remain unconnected,
ensure they are insulated with either electrical tape
or heat shrink tubing to avoid unintentional short
circuits.

The RFDATA antenna receives wireless data from the wheel
sensors and relays it to the Receiver Unit. The RFDATA antenna
does not transmit data.
Contact your TyreSense representative if an alternate
RFDATA antenna configuration is required.
Choosing a location
• mounting
RF The RFDATA
location antenna should be in line of sight of
the wheels of the vehicle since it receives wireless
transmissions from the wheel sensors.
• The antenna base mount is magnetic and can attach
directly to a metal surface.

Procedure
1. Remove rubber thread protectors from the base mount
unit and screw the antenna element onto the threaded
stub of the base mount.
2. Attach the magnetic base mount antenna to a metal
surface on the vehicle in line of sight with the wheel
sensors.
3. Route the coaxial cable for the base mount antenna to
the Receiver Unit. Ensure that the cable will not interfere
with the driver or any passengers in the vehicle.
4. Secure the cable between the base mount unit and
Receiver Unit.
5. Attach the connector on the coaxial cable to the RFDATA
antenna socket to the Receiver Unit.
ANTENNAS
The cellular antenna allows the Receiver Unit to transmit
wireless data over a cellular network to a computer or local
network.
Safety precautions
Refer to the Regulatory Requirements section on the Preface
page for FCC and R&TTE requirements.
Choosing a location
• The cellular antenna should be mounted on a large, flat
surface of metal at least 20 cm x 20 cm, and should be
placed at a right angle [ie. perpendicular] to surface.
• The antenna should have as wide a view of the horizon
as possible.

INSTALLATION REFERENCE
INSTALLATION REFERENCE
System is running correctly once you have installed all
the hardware. If you encounter any difficulties during or
after the installation of the system that are not answered
by this checklist, please contact your TyreSense Service
Representative.
1. Power up the unit and check to make sure the power
LED (marked “PWR”) is on. The LED should be a constant
green light. If the PWR light is not on, check to make sure
the power cord is correctly attached to both the electrical
panel of your vehicle and the Receiver Unit (see the
Cables section).
2. Upon powering up the unit, the MSG LED should display
a solid red light until initialization is complete. This can
take up to 60 seconds.
3. Once initialization is complete, check that the MSG light
is not blinking. If the MSG light is blinking, there may be a
potential problem. See table 6 in Appendix B for a list of
different MSG light signals.
4. If the Receiver Unit is connected to a USB, Cellular or
Bluetooth device, check to make sure the LINK light is
illuminated. This means the Receiver Unit is successfully
communicating.
If the power light is flashing continuously, the unit
has invalid firmware. See the Client Application User
Guide for instructions on updating the firmware.

through the firewall. The firewall examines each message
and blocks those that do not meet the established
security criteria.
GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications)
An open, digital cellular technology that is used to
transmit mobile voice and data services.
Hz (Hertz)
A unit of frequency defined as the periodic number of
cycles per second.
ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol)
A protocol that sends and receives control, error and
information messages that manage behaviour on the
TCP/IP protocol stack. Eg: The PING command uses ICMP
to test an Internet connection.
IMEI (International Mobile Station Equipment Identity)
A number used to identify GSM, UMTS, LTE and iDEN
mobile phones as well as some satellite phones. The IMEI
is usually found printed inside the battery compartment
of a phone.
IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity)
IMSI is a unique number allocated to each subscriber on
a cellular network. The IMSI identifies the subscriber on
the network and is stored on the SIM card. Each SIM has
its own unique IMSI.
IP (Internet Protocol)
A data-oriented protocol used for communicating data
across interconnected packet-switched networks. IP
transmits data from source to destination where the
source and destination devices are hosts identified by
fixed-length addresses.
kPa (kilopascals)
The metric unit for measuring pressure.

GLOSSARY
The RJ45 is a modular connector with eight positions,
each of which contains a conductor. Ethernet cables and
other networking devices use the RJ45 connector.
Router
A device used to forward data packets to a network. A
router is always connected to at least two networks.
Routers use packet header information and forwarding
tables to determine the best path for forwarding the
packets into or out of a network. Routers use protocols,
such as ICMP, to communicate with each other and
configure the best route between any two hosts.
RP-SMA (Reverse Polarity – SubMiniature Version A)
The RP-SMA connector is proprietary variation of the
SMA connector.
SIM (Subscriber Identity Module)
A SIM is a removable smart card that stores encrypted
user preferences and information for identifying a mobile
device service subscriber. SIM cards are mandatory in a
GSM network.
SMA (SubMiniature Version A)
An SMA connector is a coaxial RF connector with a
threaded interface.
TCP (Transmission Control Protocol)
TCP is one of the main protocols in TCP/IP networks.
TCP enables two hosts to establish a connection and
exchange streams or data. TCP guarantees delivery of
data and that the packets are delivered in the same order
in which they were sent.
USB (Universal Serial Bus)
A high-speed connectivity standard that allows easy
connection of peripheral devices to a computer. USB
supports plug-and-play installation and hot-plugging.
The USB standards supports data transfer rates up to 12
Mb/s, multiple data streams and up to 27 peripherals.
