WEEK ONE and TWO

Lesson Title: THE IMPORTANCE OF UNDERSTANDING COMMUNITY DYNAMICS AND


COMMUNITY ACTION
Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of... the integration of
social science perspective and community action initiatives

Performance Standard: The learners shall be able to… synthesize the integrative
experience of implementing community-action initiatives applying social
sciences’ ideas and methods
Most Essential Competencies:
A. Explain the importance of studying community dynamics and community action
in relation to applied social sciences and the student’s future career options.
B. Develop affirm sense of shared identity and willingness to contribute to the
attainment of the of the common good.
Time Allotment: 50 minutes per Session / 10 days

Have you ever asked what your role is in the grand scheme that we call society? Do you ever feel
small to appoint that you question your value to the social environment you are in? Have you been
curious to know how your current decisions would affect your personal future and the future of your
family members or even the world around you?
The word community in its literal form is defined by two characteristics: location and social
identification. First, a community can be defined simply as a group of individuals bound within a specific
geographic location. The second, surmises that a community is an example of collective that identifies
common traits, goals, or customs.

 Copy the format of the given activities then answer it in a long bond paper.

ACTIVITY 1. THE GLASS WALLS OF INDIVIDUAL LIMITATIONS


Do you remember what you wanted to be when you were a kid? What was your very first dream as a
child? Can you recall how it invigorated you each day as you role –play your dream? On a one whole
sheet of paper please write your name and dream you wanted to accomplish and think about your answers
to the follow –up questions.

a. What do you think influence you to form this dream?


b. How do you think this dream will you help your future family? Your community?
c. Why do you think that this dream is important?
d. Is your dream still viable in your current standing as a Grade XII student? If it has changed, then
share what made that change and why?

ACTIVITY 2. THE COMMUNITY AND I

List down at least three communities that you are currently part of and list the significance of each
community in your life.

What communities are you part How significant are these Why are these communities

ACTIVITY 3. MY COMMUNITY

Let us test how knowledgeable you are with the following questions. Please answer with full honesty for
the sake of a fruitful discussion with your peers.

1. Who are the incumbent mayor, vice mayor, councilors, and other local officials in your
municipality?
2. What are the particular roles of these officials in your community?
3. Give an example of a project in your municipality and discuss what it is all about?
4. When was your municipality established? Can you name prominent people and historical figures
or events that your municipality can be proud of why do you consider them such?
5. What is your municipality’s primary product or commodity?
6. After answering the first five questions, what did you notice about your stock knowledge
regarding your community?

ACTIVITY 4. REFLECTION: ME, MYSELF and I

Write an essay to answer the questions below. In writing your essay, always remember the three Cs
(content -50, clarity -25, cohesion -25). Always be mindful of the content, be clear on what you say, and
be disciplined in ordering your ideas.

the world.” In this light, how can you embody this ethos in your status as
