1 Banner Cloud Data Services (CDS)

The DXM can be connected and sharing data with the Banner Cloud Data Services (CDS), a web-based software platform
that allows users to access, store, protect, visualize, and export critical data collected by Banner's DXM Controllers. This
software complements our wireless product portfolio and provides customers with complete end-to-end IIoT solutions to
solve the most pressing problems of the industrial market.

Visit the Banner CDS site for account access and technical support at https://bannercds.com. From the home page you
can:
• Log into the website if you already have an account
• Subscribe to a data services plan
• Learn more about the subscription service plans
• Access support documentation, videos, and frequently asked questions
• Recover lost passwords
A web services data plan subscription provides cloud storage, data visualization, notifications (alerts), and data
management for the DXM. Activating a cellular data plan allows the DXM to communicate using the cellular network. Data
plans can be purchased at secure.bannercelldata.com.

1.1 Web Services Subscriptions

Follow these steps to activate a web service account.
1. Understand the basic operation of the website.
2. Calculate the volume of data required for an application.
3. Sign up for a subscription service.
The data plans for the web service vary with the number of users and the amount of register data to store. When requesting
a web service plan, please allow up to one business day to complete the implementation. To change a subscription service
or discontinue a service, please contact Banner Engineering Corp.
The service packages are predefined subscription services. The variation within the tiers of subscription services are based
on a few characteristics of the website:

Company
A Company contains one or more DXM Controllers (gateways/edge devices).
Conglomerate
A Conglomerate is a group of two or more Companies.

www.bannerengineering.com - Tel: + 1 888 373 6767 3

Banner Cloud Data Services

Data Point
A Data Point is a single website storage element organized by a timestamp and contains a register value. The value
can represent a temperature, humidity, distance, or various other sensor readings.
The allotted data upload rate (data limit) is applied at the Conglomerate level and is shared by the underlying
Companies. For those subscriptions having multiple Conglomerates, the data limitat is applied at the multi-
conglomerate level and is shared by the underlying Conglomerates.
Gateways
A gateway is a storage location for a single DXM Wireless Controller; several gateways can be contained within a
Company.
Users
Unique logins to the web site. Only one Username can be logged in at a time.

1.1.1 Calculating the Data Requirements

The data limit on the web server depends on the parameters the user chooses for the DXM.
The parameters are:
• Number of data points (Local Registers) to transmit per data push
• How often the data points are sent to the web server
Each web service plan stores data for 12 months.
Navigate to https://bannercds.com and go to Support > Help Center. Click Pricing, then How to Choose a Web Service
Plan.

In this example, a single DXM is configured to push 85 registers of data every 10 minutes, resulting in 510 data points per
hour uploaded to the web server. The Data Point Estimator suggests the Starter web service plan for this application.

1.1.2 Web Server Data Storage

The tiers of the Web Service Subscription Plans offer a maximum of a twelve-month retention period for data storage. As
data is pushed from the DXM Controllers, it is saved using a portion of the data storage allotted for that retention period.
Each plan stores the amount of data equal to their maximum allotted hourly rate accumulated over twelve (12) months. For
example, 1000 points/hr plan × 730 hrs/month × 12 months = ~8.8 million data points. After stored data becomes older
than the retention period, the oldest data is removed from storage.
With planning, the data storage limit should not be reached. If the DXM Controllers are programmed to push more data than
the web server is configured to accept over a given time, a warning message is sent to the account administrator when the
hourly limit is reached. The account administrator must immediately change the configuration of the DXM Controller and
adjust the push rate or the amount of data transmitted per push.

Important: The account may be locked if the data limit is exceeded for an extended period of time. Banner
will make a substantial effort to engage with an account administrator or representative of equal
ownership to remedy the violation before locking the account.

the LCD menu, select Push > Trigger Data Push.
Obtaining LTE service outside of the Banner Cellular Data Plans—Customers have the option of securing a data plan for the
Verizon network themselves without using the Banner cellular data portal (secure.bannercelldata.com). Suitable plans would
include those available from Verizon directly or from a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) licensed to resell Verizon
network data plans. (The SXI-LTE-001 will not function on AT&T, T-Mobile, or Sprint networks.) When purchasing a data
plan, it is important to refer to the modem by its official Verizon network name (for example, SENSX002) and give the IMEI
number (found on the cellular modem) to the plan provider. To use the SIM card that comes with the cellular modem kit,
give the SIM card number to the provider. The required SIM card form factor is 3FF - Micro.

4. Subscribe a Contact to receive notifications from that asset group(s) (see Create a Contact on p. 20).
Parameters found on the Alerts screen include:

Alarm Name
User-defined field used to name the alarm.
Alarm State
Warning—An optional threshold (defined by the user) that indicates conditions are approaching critical limits.
Warning thresholds are often used for proactive purposes.
Critical—A mandatory threshold (defined by the user) that indicates conditions have reached the highest severity.
Critical thresholds are often used as reactive purposes.
Clear—The alarm has not reached/or is no longer surpassing a Warning or Critical threshold. This state indicates
that conditions are within normal operating parameters as defined by the user.
