Values Integration
Emphasize that as a student who has gained confidence in self and the Lord, and is ready to respond to issues and concerns, they must
step into the light. Steps a leader must tread so that others may also see the path into the light.

Picture Analysis:
Let the students analyse the picture below:

Process Questions:
1. What idea is conveyed by the pictures?
2. How would you relate the pictures to issues in social context?
Science Integration
Men are physically stronger than women, who have, on average, less total muscle mass, both in absolute terms and relative to total
body mass. Men also have denser, stronger bones, tendons, and ligaments.
Gender and Development
That is why women are protected with laws such as the Republic Act 9262 The Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act
of 2004. Recognizing the need to protect the family and its members particularly women and children from violence and threats to
their personal safety and security. This was signed by former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on March 2, 2004. But, women are
not that weak either, women produce more antibodies and at a quicker rate than men. For these reason women develop fewer
infectious diseases and when they do, they succumb for shorter periods. It has also been suggested that variance in IQ scores greater in
men, meaning more men have exceptionally high IQ. But, there are also fewer women than men with learning difficulties.

Republic Act 7610 Special protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination

Child Labor- refers to the illegal employment of children below the age of 15 where they are not directly under the sole responsibility
of their parents or legal guardian or the latter employs other workers apart from their children who are not members of their family or
their work endangers their life, safety, health and morals or impairs their normal development including schooling. This also extends
to the situation of their children below the age of 18 who are employed in a hazardous occupation.

B. Establishing a Purpose for the Call one of the students to read the objectives for today’s lesson.
Lesson
A student must be called to manipulate and navigate the laptop to make sure that ICT integration is applied not just taught.

Call one volunteer who wants to play Who wants to be a Millionaire an offline interactive game using the laptop to figure out what the
words that the acronym VUCA stands for.

The concept of VUCA is clearly manifested in survival. No matter how VUCA your situation is you are surviving in this world. The
unchanging values like positivity, self-respect, perseverance and flexibility are necessary in the VUCA world for us to survive.

Literature indeed reflects in the society its good values and its skills. In its corrective function, literature mirrors the ills of the society
with a view of realizing its mistakes and making corrections. Values are passing from culture to culture from generation to generation.
However in this modern time, it is claimed by scientist that change in the society has been happening in a phase they have never seen
before. Everything can change in just a snap. They refer it as the VUCA world.

C.Presenting Examples/Instances How could the social issues depicted be resolved? Accomplish the chart below based on the pictures presented.
of the Lesson Form of Social Issue Resolution
1. Violence Against Women
2. Child Labor
D.Discussing New Concepts and What is VUCA?
Practicing New Skills #1
Leadership is the main aspect described for the VUCA theory. But of course we cannot set aside other aspects of life like education,
agriculture, health family, religion and a lot more. VUCA is an acronym (artificial word), first used in 1987 and based on the
leadership theories of Warren Bennis and Burt Nanus. It stands for Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity.

Literacy (Let the students read the words and its meaning with emphasis on correct pronunciation.)

VUCA shows the unpredictable nature of the world. Let us try to focus on the coronavirus in the Philippine context.

 Volatile- change is rapid and unpredictable in its nature and extent. Volatility deals on the nature and dynamics of change. Our
current situation is an unexpected one from a normal day to day transaction we are now limited to social gathering, travel and
more. In just a matter of single yet powerful virus the worlds just suddenly change. That’s how volatile is all about. Every day
we face sudden change that requires adjustments.
Ask a student to give one situation reflecting volatility.
 Uncertain- the present is unclear and the future is uncertain. Uncertainty is the lack of predictability. The covid19 alone is
unpredictable phenomenon and up to now we cannot even predict when it would last. Just like in our life, can we predict when
we die, or get married? That is uncertainty.
Ask a student to give one situation reflecting uncertainty.
 Complex- many different, interconnected factors come into play, with the potential to cause chaos and confusion. Complexity
is the confusion of issues. The news the vaccines to be given to Filipinos are of complexity there are issues as to which
vaccines would be affective against covid19 whether it’s SINOVAC or ASTRAZENECCA. Well that is really confusing
specially because that each vaccine has different efficacy.
Ask a student to give one situation reflecting complexity.
 Ambiguous- there is a lack of clarity or awareness about situation. Ambiguity is about potential ideas or standpoint for
misjudgement or something that causes confusion and different meaning. News about corona virus disease is sometimes
misleading especially those that are not credible websites in the internet. This apparently creates confusion or double meaning
among people.
Ask a student to give one situation reflecting ambiguity.
Adaptation is the real challenge when we talk about VUCA situation in the real world. The concept of VUCA is really tough? In
fact when we are reading literatures these concepts is expressed in conflicts and countered among characters. This can be social
discrimination, religious conflict, love conflicts and even personal challenges. The importance of conflict is to create tension in
the story making readers more interested by leaving them uncertain which of the characters or forces will prevail and
survive. These conflicts are the central point of the story where the character/s needs to overcome. In effect, we, readers can
greatly connect it in our present situations.
E. Discussing New Concepts and Let them watch a video about how to survive in a VUCA world.
Practicing New Skills #2
F. Developing Mastery Fill in the blank to complete the sentence for the VUCA drill.
(Leads to Formative Assessment 1. VUCA was introduced by ____________ and ______________. (Warren Bennis and Burt Nanus)
3) 2. VUCA concept was first used as the main aspect of ____________ made popular into government, agencies, schools,
organizations and the like. (Leadership)
3. The unchanging values like positivity, self-respect, perseverance and flexibility are necessary in the VUCA world for us to
___________. (Survive)
4. ____________is the real challenge when we talk about VUCA situation in the real world. (Adaptation)
5. VUCA stands for ________,____________,____________ and ___________.

G. Finding Practical Read/Sing the lyrics of the first two stanzas and chorus of the ballad “Wind of Change” by the West German rock band Scorpions.
Applications of Concepts and History Integration
Skills in Daily Living This song was recorded in 1990 by the band Scorpions. Although the song is in English, the band is from Germany. What have you
known about German history during the late 1980’s?
In 1989, the Berlin Wall was demolished. The Berlin Wall was built in 1961 and divided East Berlin from West Berlin. These two
territories were important in the cold war, a power struggle between the Soviet Union and Western powers like the United States and
Great Britain. The wall presented a physical barrier constructed for political reasons. Many people could not see their family members
or move freely just because they lived on one side of the wall.
Numeracy: Let the students count how many years Berlin Wall become a barrier between East and West Berlin. Let them think of
the situation Berliners have and compare it to the situation we have today when it comes to boundary restriction to emphasize how
many years Berliners suffered.

Song Analysis: analyse the song by answering the following questions:

1. What is the song all about?
2. What could be the dream of the speaker?
3. If you were to follow the wind of change, where would it possibly bring you in the future considering the volatile, uncertain,
complex and ambiguous world?
H. Making Generalizations  Counter Volatility with VISION. Create a compelling vision and values. This will help give a clear focus and react quickly to
and Abstractions about the change.
Lesson  Meet uncertainty with UNDERSTANDING. You’ll be able to anticipate threats and take advantage of new opportunities

will give clear direction, and encourage solving complex problems together.

debate and embrace creativity.
