AWS Envision Engineering Program Fact Sheet For AWS Customers

The Envision Engineering program helps AWS customers develop and expand their cloud capabilities through hands-on prototyping. The EE team specializes in technologies like AI/ML, IoT, AR/VR, and robotics. To qualify for the program, customers need an executive sponsor, willingness to experiment, and ability to allocate resources to participate. The engagement involves discovery sessions, biweekly sprints over 4-6 weeks, and demos. At the end, customers receive a working prototype, code, and next step recommendations. The program is offered at no fee, using an AWS test account to avoid costs. Customers can keep any code developed.

AWS Envision Engineering Program Fact Sheet

for AWS Customers
The Envision Engineering (EE) prototype program is ideal for customers who are committed to
starting or accelerating their cloud transformation. In this program, AWS helps customers
develop and expand their cloud and digital capabilities using innovative problem solving
techniques and experimentation through hands-on prototyping.

The EE team specializes in technology capabilities that deliver exponential outcomes towards
digital transformation: Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, IoT, Augmented/Virtual Reality,
Robotics, and Satellite. Prototypes may include additional supporting capabilities (like
serverless and analytics), but the focus is on this small group of our most strategic services to
deliver the art of the possible.

To qualify for this program, customers should:

v Have an executive sponsor

v Be open to experimenting with new ideas and technologies
v Allocate business and/or technical resources to participate in the prototype. If you do
not have the technical knowledge and/or resources for a path to production, be open
to investing in training and/or an AWS partner or Professional Services (ProServe) as a
follow on activity.
§ While our goal is to help enable customers on their path to production,
depending on the knowledge gap, additional supportive mechanisms may be
needed after our engagement to not lose momentum. We can work with
customers on a knowledge assessment as we start our engagement to
recommend a role-based training plan to get the most out of our prototype..
v Commit to investing in the prototype (such as a pilot or production) if it meets your
defined success criteria

The customer and EE team will work very closely during the engagement. We start with an
onsite (virtual for COVID period) discovery session where we use Amazon’s “Working
Backwards” mechanism to align vision and identify the best problem or opportunity to solve
for your customer. Building the prototype occurs in 2-week sprints for an overall 4 to 6 week
time box. Demos of the evolving prototype will be reviewed by the overall team at the end of
each sprint for feedback.

Customers can expect to receive a working prototype, code and code walk-through, and a
prototype summary report with high level next step recommendations at the conclusion of
our engagement.

FAQs
1) What is the cost of this program?

This is an AWS customer investment program. Prototyping Engagements are offered on a

no-fee basis. The prototype work can be done in an AWS EE test account (shared with you)
to avoid AWS service costs for customers.

2) Can any customer use this program?

Any customer can work with their AWS account team or business development team to
request an EE prototype engagement. The EE program team will assess the use case fit
with the EE scope of services using the criteria listed above. If your use case is not a good
fit for an EE prototype engagement, we may be able to redirect you to other AWS
programs.

3) Can customers keep the code after the engagement?

Absolutely. The EE team will provide a code review and hand-off to you and/or your
partner at the conclusion of our engagement. We will also provide high-level production
scaling recommendations to help you plan and scope the next step of your investment to
realize its benefits.
